The pats need to make a switch at slot WR

It's ok to say he played like **** when he played like ****, really. He's been coddled enough.
The difference is that many of you are saying him playing like **** yesterday means it’s already time to search for another QB.

It’s an idiotic take at this stage, and that’s an understatement. Maybe you guys are the ones that have been coddled for too long after watching 20 years of Brady.

I'll need a source for that one.

There was noticeable regression from last year by Maye, when it was also obvious the pieces around him are vastly improved. It's ok to say that. Nobody's calling for Josh Dobbs.

The 'hey, give the kid a break'ers, are the same ones who've been telling everyone who would listen that this was somehow a playoff team, because of Drake Maye. I've always thought this was a rebuilding/development year. But again, it's ok to say when he played like ****. Revisionist history doesn't help anyone.

Justin Fields played much better than our Drake Maye yesterday: both running and passing.
Running is to be expected.
Fields does have the second best rushing season by a QB in NFL history after all.

Can we Trade for Michael Mayer?? They don't need Two TE's of that caliber I'm not a fan of H Henry.
Got to stop with the Mayer love, he is not that good, and thus why they drafted Bowers a year after taking Mayer 35th overall. He has 489 yards and 2 TDs in 2 seasons plus a game. And he had 4 catches yesterday for 38 yds, Henry had 8 for 66 yds.
We can definitely improve from Henry, but Mayer is not the guy to do it with.

Having watched the 1st half All22. Pop only had two short routes and dropped one of them. Almost all intermediate and longer routes. Receivers were open and he either didn't look their way, or was too late delivering the ball.
Maye needs better play calling, to be more decisive, and a short option far more often.

And the ones ****ting on him are the ones saying the season will be a bust if they don’t make the play offs. I’ve been consistent in saying I hope they are in contention for a wild card in December, period. This is a young inexperienced QB in a complex system who is having to change systems in his second year, and is surrounded by a bunch of new players and coaches. Yesterday was their first real game together and fans here are acting like the sky is falling because they lost. You can give up on him any time you want, I’m going to give him time to develop.

Are you admiring the Jets and their eternal search for a QB?

Better than sitting on one that’s not good enough no? Maye has to show he is and quickly, otherwise being open to looking in the 2026 draft is sensible.

Maye doesn’t have to leave just because we draft again. Anyway as long as he shows something this season to suggest he can be an elite franchise QB then we won’t need to worry.

Franchises that do this never go anywhere. It's been proven time and time again. If you can't develop your QB, might as well try another sport.

They have to have something worth developing though.

Zach Wilson wouldn’t be a top QB if the jets gave him a decade. Neither would Sam Darnold, who still got binned despite a good start last year. Jordan Love and Jimmy G both had years to learn behind top tier QB’s but both aren’t it.

Franchise QB’s are clear early on, let’s hope Maye lands in that bucket by the end of this season.

I thought Maye looked bad-OK-awful during the game, but what really perplexed me (and AA the color man) was the bizarre play calling
Kind of hard to call normal plays when a WR is wide open at 8 yards and instead the QB throws it 20 yards into double coverage. What does an OC do with that decision making?

The Raiders defense played zone, packed the box to stop the run, and forced the Pats to throw to the outside and intermediate areas - this is commonly known as "the Mac Jones" defense - we saw it for years. When the QB can't throw to open WRs in the intermediate distances, what is an OC supposed to do? Can't run, can't throw deep, and can't throw down the middle. The rest of the field is wide, wide, wide open. Maybe the OC should call a play to throw to the open area of the field, like McDaniels did?

Did you use Zach Wilson and Darnold as examples?

Uh, the Jets don't have a QB. They have drafted QBs over and over and over and tossed them aside after 2 years.

By the way... the guy that ripped the Patriots for 350+ yards in the air this Sunday? He was a Jets draft pick that they gave up on very quickly.

Gave you 4 examples, 2 directly from the team you referenced and 2 that had some of the best learning opportunities around.

You trying now to suggest geno smith could be a franchise QB for the jets? The guy with 1.4 TD’s per INT, slightly better than Jameis Winston. Guess they both just needed more time at their first teams and they’d be elite.

The Jags have given Lawrence over 4 years, this is year 5 for Lawrence. Do you think we should wait 5 years for a QB like Lawrence or G Smith?

Must be the team around him or the coaches, give poor Trevor another decade.

his 2024 was bad and he only played 10 games.
His first 3 years were pretty solid playing for a dogshit team with dogshit coaching.
That all said, he needs to have a good year this year or the Jags will be QB shopping.

Well, if Maye isn't the answer at QB as many on here are saying, then this team is humped for at least the next 10 years (best case scenario).

Who is the Jets QB? Is he any good?

The Patriots traded Jimmy G. Then he lead his team to a Super Bowl.

He is made of glass though.

Sounds like you've given up on Jordan Love.

Now that's weird.

Patriot fans are bizarre.
