The pats need to make a switch at slot WR

Strongly doubting it. I predict both Diggs and Boutte finish with over 60 catches a piece. Boutte potential for a 1000 yard season.

Now we have to wonder if he's a chicken from the Slot: a guy who hear footsteps ie... LBs and Safeties?? IF Pop don't like to be hit: we have to give Chism a shot. McDaniels Offense relies on a Volume Slot not a pedestrian one. Pop is another player to watch closely next week: you are not alone Maye.
Pop didn’t “hear footsteps,” he started running before the ball got there and didn’t look the ball in. Classic game one error…

He got screwed by at least three balls minimum that sailed overhead, otherwise he would have had a much more productive day.

The receivers were getting open at will, that clearly wasn’t the problem.

I was there. in person. not on TV (haven't yet watched replay)
Pop was open quite a bit. many targets were
Maye missed targets. Maye didn't see targets. Maye did not look towards targets. that said, they were still open.
Yes, Pop dropped a ball he mostly always catches. But that was not the story of the day on Pop. he was open, and the ball did not get to him.
It did to Henry. It did to Boutte. It did to Diggs. why not Pop?

Pop got a lot of targets early, Maye’s early game jitters hurt Pop more. Also Pop is the smallest target and working in short space in the slot. Maye has to put the ball where only his receiver can get it. He can’t get lazy and throw off his back foot, he needs to drive the ball, be precise… especially in the slot.

Maye sailed a ball high over Hunter Henry also, that guy is 6’5” with long arms… you can be a lot less accurate with big tall TE’s. It’s why Lamar Jackson produces good fantasy football TE’s but can’t sustain fantasy WR’s. He gets it in the general vicinity, great QB’s put the ball exactly where they intend to.

I don't think Pop Douglas was the problem on Sunday. He did drop a pass early but quickly made up for it with the TD catch. I think he had a decent outing. I would like to see more Chism though. I don't see why the Patriots can't mix it up and run some shotgun with dual slots. We used to do something similar with Edelman and Amendola.

Make the defense run around and keep up with our quick guys like Chism and Douglas and the game will get easier. You don't have to force long downfield throws if you can beat them with a dozen papercuts on your way to a TD. We've had success with that style of play before.

I refuse to listen to Felger and Mazz because they are such critical idiots
Unfortunately their antics have crept into this forum
They just have different names

The woe is us, we have no talent, all the players on other teams are talented energy is strong in this fanbase. It has to be the media for the large part.

A big segment of the fanbase wanted to fire Belichick at the start of 2014… then “we’re onto Cincinnati” happened. We were told in 2014, 2016 and 2018 we had “no talent,” the defense was too old and slow, we had no weapons… unfortunately the loudest voices get all the attention.

If we can be “talentless” in the midst of peak second dynasty, then the local media clearly have no fcking clue… nor do the lemmings who follow them.

To this day, I have no idea why the Boston chattering heads seem so relentlessly negative about their teams, even when they are doing especially well.

Because it pisses people off and that drives clicks and call ins. Felger started out completely reasonable, then made a conscious choice to be as big an ******* as he could be because the controversy brought attention to him. I have zero respect for him and anyone like him.

Not gonna lie I'm not sold on Pop, He's been nothing but hype for the past 3 years and still has yet to show the production for it. Still not great at finding the open spot in zone and with his recent drops......Now I'm not saying we should make a switch just hoping he can get it together and become the player we need him to be,

Usual suspects. They never stop crying.
WTF
The kid has 2 seasons of College and just starting his 2nd season in the Pro’s (1st season was a partial)
He’s 22 yrs old. Has had a different system all 4 years playing
Has a ton of talent
Give the kid some ****ing time please
If he gets better at TO’s this season then we are trending in the right direction
The rest will come with reps and filmroom
I’m confident he’s the real deal
I’m sure they are all as critical on themselves at their job
They probably wet their pants when the boss gives them some constructive criticism

He was the first Patriots WR to have more than 100 yards in a game since....was it Kendrick Bourne in 2021?

Boutte looked like a pro receiver, a real bright spot.

Agree completely, he played really well yesterday, and overall his career trajectory is clearly upward.

I would rather see Chism in the slot.

Maye is a work in progress, it will take time, just as it took Josh Allen time. The people crying are the same people who would have benched Brady the moment 100 million $$$ Drew Bledsoe was able to play. They have zero patience and even less sense. If you aren’t a world beater day one, and on every day after that you suck.

Boutte is doing it in a garbage offense as well. He just gets open and catches the ball. An old friend we just played against the Raiders used to do that for us too.

It's ok to say he played like **** when he played like ****, really. He's been coddled enough.

People can say whatever they want, and I’m going to do the same, but from the other side of the ledger. I thought MacDaniels hung him out to dry yesterday, and their OL screwed him by putting them in 1st and 2nd and twenty. I’m going to give him plenty of time to develop, because I think the payoff will be big if they get that done.

Let's hope it dont take until Drake turn 30 like it took smith.. .. twin you have to remember gino have a all PRO TE that open up the offense for him... remember what gronk and Hernandez did for us??...
Yep. If Drake can’t get it at 22, it’s means he won’t get it until he’s 30.

If he doesn’t get it next week they should just cut him and trade for Mac Jones, that should make the crybabies happy.
