The pats offense can’t operate without a reliable slot WR. Maye also needs a quick outlet that has a good feel for zone coverage. Douglas has proven that he can’t be a high volume slot WR.

Did you happen to see Diggs uncovered 8 yards downfield when Maye heroballed that throw to Henry into double coverage?I was at the game, and have not seen replay yet.
from my vantage point, Pop was open on 3 routes, and May threw to him, high. open 3 times, missed 3 times
Pop did have 2 rcpts
Pop did have a drop
I am all for Chism getting a shot, even at Pop's expense. but Pop's play yesterday was not that poor
It was not good by Maye to even throw that, or he was too late.Did you happen to see Diggs uncovered 8 yards downfield when Maye heroballed that throw to Henry into double coverage?
That one play pushed me right over the edge. I don't care if Henry made an incredible catch, it was a stupid decision and a stupid throw.
That's the most frightening thing to me about Maye's development... Dan O did a quick video after preseason game 2 with just 3 plays where there's amazing open opportunities and Maye just looks past them too quickly and scrambles try to make a stupid throw.Did you happen to see Diggs uncovered 8 yards downfield when Maye heroballed that throw to Henry into double coverage?

The throw into double coverage on the left hash that was completed. Not the interception. Pretty sure that was a pretty clean pocket. It was not good by Maye to even throw that, or he was too late.
But let's not sit here and pretend he wasn't hit as he threw which altered the entire throw.
It's pointless to talk about the accuracy of a ball when the QB was hit as he threw.
The QB should be criticized for being late to throw, for not feeling the pressure correctly, etc. But it makes no sense to judge the accuracy of a throw when the QB is hit as he threw.

Also, he apparently can't run anymore. Bledsoe looked faster than that display yesterday. A couple of those were plays last year that were easy first downs. He just looked slow, and if he's slow now for whatever reason, then he's not a franchise QB. His legs were part of the package. He's not accurate enough to be a pure pocket passer, never has been. That's the most frightening thing to me about Maye's development... I hate to say it, but if he were a 2nd rounder "running QB" - the entire NFL world would be saying he can't read defense or process a NFL-level offense. And he'd be washed out after this 2nd year.
Something better change fast.
I'd agree - with the caveat that Pop & Hollins could have done better. Also, can we all agree, for the first time in years, the receivers were *NOT* the problem yesterday?
Drake Maye is the reason why we lost yesterday and I am sure he knows it. We'll just have to see how he responds next week. IF we lose next Sunday and he looks like $h!t. We'll be talking about the 2026 Draft sooner rather than later. I don't want to live through another Mac Jones. That's the most frightening thing to me about Maye's development... I dunno, they were open too.I'd agree - with the caveat that Pop & Hollins could have done better.
But Maye's decisions & accuracy were not NFL caliber yesterday. Let's pray he just had a rough start.

He was the first Patriots WR to have more than 100 yards in a game since....was it Kendrick Bourne in 2021?Let's be honest does anybody here think K Boutte is a better WR than Pop?? I don't think so: Pop have the potential to be a volume catcher from the Slot: but we need Maye to put it on him: and not over or behind him in the Slot.
