How many wins will the Pats have this year?

By division, optimistically it goes like this for 11 wins:
AFCE 3-3 - either win all at home and lose all away, or lose both to Buf but 3-1 vs Jets/Mia
AFCC 2-2 - beat Pit, Cle; lose @Cin, @Bal
NFCS 3-1 - beat Car, @NO, Atl; lose @TB
Other 3-0 - beat LV, @TN, NYG

The riskiest of those W's is Buf at home and @ Tenn, which if we lose them would mean 9 wins.

If the year sucks with injuries and mistakes, we could also lose to Pit and Atl, which would mean 7 wins.

So between 7 and 11, so probably 9 but praying for 10 and a WC berth.

Undoubtedly we'll pull off at least 1 big upset, as well as blow at least 1 game where we're big favorites. So who tf knows.

Well, it's that time, once again.
Time for 2025 Season Predictions

The roster is (kinda) set.
Vrabes, Josh, and Terrell Williams head up a much more seasoned coaching staff.
All eyes are on Maye.
For many of us, alcohol is on hand for celebrations or lamentations.
Long term expectations are maybe higher than anytime since TFB was here.
Will the Pats be in the playoff hunt?
Will they be booking January tickets for Caribbean vacations by November?
You predict it all, right here!

We've got the regular season, maybe even including a playoff appearance(?), and around the league, we've got the playoffs, the Super Bowl, and any other predictions you want to make. Here's the 2025 Patriots schedule:

LV
@ MIA
PIT
CAR
@BUF
@NO
@TEN
CLE
ATL
@TB
NYJ
@CIN
NYG
-BYE-
BUF
@BAL
@NYJ
MIA
This team is going to have a good season. Maye is very talented and now bring coached by someone who knows what he is doing. There are plenty of weapons to be a top 10 scoring offense with McD schemes and Mayes talent.
I think the defense is going to have some struggles but overall be decent. Pass rush and run D are going to be challenging.

I start with the fact we have 8 games against teams that lost 12 or more games last year and call that 8 wins. Of course an upset could happen but those are usually balanced by upset wins.

After that
Split with Miami 9-1
Split Atlanta and Cinci 10-2
Split with Pitt and Tampa 11-3

That leaves
Buffalo twice (they are vulnerable) Baltimore
Lose all 3 it’s 11-6
Win one it’s 12-5
I’m going with 12-5.

If we played a schedule of 17 8-9 or 9-8 teams we may be 8-9 or 9-8 but the schedule turns that into 11-6 or 12-5

10 wins.

I think just as a result of randomness they lose 1-2 times to the Dolphins or Jets, but they split with Buffalo.

7-10. Lack of depth, mediocre roster, but a Drake Maye blast off can flip that to 10-7. Roster still isn't good enough and good coaching only gets you so far.

Red Zone passing....still awful this year

I was originally 9 to 10 wins but I’m now at 8 wins, they will have to stay healthy due to the lack of depth. Vrabel said earlier in the week that they will have to go to great lengths to improve the roster.

I think they will be a really good running team and I believe they are going to make life miserable for QB’s on their schedule.

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think Maye is going to play well enough to win more than 5 games. He's basically a redshirt rookie, learning a new offense, behind a brand new OL. And Campbell is going to struggle with pass protection at this level. And even if both play well, it's difficult to say how this new D is going to play. This is a year one rebuild so I don't expect many wins. I do expect them to compete.

Why is Campbell going to "Struggle", because ******s say so?
I take it you will be one of the complainers...
Bah

Maye played well enough to win more than 5 games last year despite everyone around him sucking.

I can’t understand how a fan of the team that takes a consensus top 5 QB draft pick, watches him do very well for a rookie and then proclaim he sucks and the team can’t win. But then you too if off with telling us the next consensus top 5 pick sucks too.

because they need to feel like this team is going to be bad because they love to reveal on darkness

I see 11 wins Maybe 12 our Defense should keep us in many barring injuries.
And therein lies the problem
I was thinking maybe 10 or 11 with that schedule.
But after seeing the quality (or lack of) of our back-ups I have reduced that to 8 or 9 wins.
There will be injuries.
So, imo you can't reasonably say "barring injuries"

Players will get discouraged when we lose too many games early on because everything is new and it will take time to gel. Then the injuries to starters will start piling up and the backups are not good. 7-9 wins.

At the end of the day, it all depends on Maye’s development and injuries. Maye plays like a rookie all year and key starters miss a lot of time? Might be looking at 5 wins despite the easy schedule. If Maye continues to improve each week and takes to the offense while we stay relatively healthy? 11 wins, maybe even steal another one because of the easy schedule. I’m splitting the difference at an 8-9 final W-L record, hoping it’s due to the injury depth issue while Maye progresses at a reasonable pace. Would put us in good position for 2026.
If this does occur, and the Patriots get a high pick, do you think they take a QB in the draft?

You forgot "Give me a break, I'm just waking up from a nap."

Fair enough. Figured I'd keep the winning records together.

Also, I love 911s

Brother...

I bet there were a lot of Commanders fans saying this exact same thing last year.
The team will go as Maye goes, just like Wash last year with JD.
Waaaaaay Better coaching this year. Maye takes a leap and amazingly the rest of the roster looks way better.
10 wins minimum.

Hate to ask, but could you copy and paste this and start it over as a public poll?

10-7 maybe 11-6 Vrable will energize the team, plus the defense has been upgraded

Have you looked at other teams backups?
We actually have pretty solid depth on D.
The only area there is a major issue with depth is the OL.

At DT we have Tonga, Farmer and the guy we just signed. White can also play DT.
At edge in addition to 3 starters rotating we have possibly the best edge run defender in the league.
At LB we have Gibbens and Tavai who have been starters.
At corner Austin is the cb4 and he has played well when he has played James is cb5 (find me a team with a surely better cb5) and we just added an experienced veteran corner who has played a lot on this league to the ps.

Our “2nd unit” on defense is probably as good as any in the league.

The guys wearing the uniform against the Giants and getting torched are not in the team, they dont count they aren’t on the roster.
