The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

Says the smooth brain insisting the winningest coach in history backed into success.

Also stop pretending you can elicit an emotion from me... other than pity maybe.
I blame the owner's son. Everything is his fault. Seems to be the thing to do these days.

Right. Bill also had an advantage in Brady that no other team had. With Brady's offensive mind, Bill could focus on what he does best on defense. Brady could also cover up a lot of BB's mistakes and did he ever make his share.

Once that safety blanket left was forced out the door, what was left was a defensive minded coach that refused to get with the times in a league that had long moved on from the era where he thrived. He was like a fish out of water.

And yeah even though Mac Jones was not good he was not responsible for his team's defense getting rung up 47-17 in Buffalo in January the way they did in historic fashion. That was 100% BB's failure, nobody else's. Full stop. All other opinions on that are trash.

Tom had no advantages working under Bill... laughable.

Sentence 1 really isn’t supporting sentence 2.

Tom had no advantages working under Bill... laughable.

Points per game comparisons are meaningless as I already explained to you many times.

Fact: Bill needed Brady a lot more than the other way around. Brady didn't need Bill all that much, as he won a SB without him. Bill is .426 post Brady and out of the NFL. That's got him all hot and bothered and that's why he's whining like a little ***** now about owners sons being in his way.

Yeah the main thing being the game changed away from Bills strength and into his weaknesses.

The WRs and passing game became more important than ever and let's be honest he hates QBs and can't draft or doesn't value WRs and still wants to win the old school way with a QB managing the game with defense and special teams where as the NFL wants shootouts and scoring and doesn't want defensive games and the rules are against it.

The Anti-Bill and Pro-Bill people can't just accept that Bill was the best ever in his prime and then at the end he sucked, we don't have to go back and re-create history to discredit him when he was great and then pretend he didn't cause his own demise with terrible drafting and coaching staff decisions, he became more about wanting to be with his friends and coach people he liked rather than to hire the best people for the job, if you don't get out at the right time a coach in every sport has that moment when the game passes them by and Bill had his.

Bill from 2001-2016 was a great coach who although had spotty drafts you could always say he put the team first, from 2017 questionable things where he clearly putting himself and his personal feelings before the team started to happen, the downfall started before Brady left that last Super Bowl was almost a miracle that team had some horrendous performances during that season at Jacksonville, Tennessee and Detroit that you almost never see from a team that wins a Super Bowl.

A Brady masterclass in KC and one last showing of Belichicks defensive fastball still having life against the Rams secured an unlikely championship for a team that was in decline that had no business winning.

Conclusion - Bill was wasn't carried by Brady for his career like the Anti-Bill people would tell you he was outstanding for a good 15 years, Bill also wasn't doomed by Mac Jones or Kraft forcing him to draft him like the Pro-Bill people will tell you he was doomed by his own bad decisions and the game passing him by which lasted way longer than a year or two it was going on a good 5/6 seasons and it was getting worse and worse every season and Brady staying would only be able to massage it to a fraudulent 10-11 wins, the days of this team winning big were done because of Bill and his bad drafting and his paranoia and refusing to hire anyone but friends, friends kids, his kids and people with connections to him.
I would contend Bill was never an offensive coach, no more than Vrabel is... or no more then Andy Reid is a defensive coach.

Up until 2023 the Patriots still had one of the best defenses in the league... so if he "lost his fastball," it was specifically on offense, where he always relied on smarter coaches than him.

Points are how they determine wins and losses chuckles. Points are the most important stat in football.

And jokers like you suggesting Patriots defenses weren't consistently good and when they won championships great are embarrassing. Stop talking football... try basket weaving instead.

No. Their defense sucked ass in 2020, wasn't all that in 2021 and 2022 either.

I already explained to you many times why it's a useless comparison. Your choice not to believe that but facts matter and they don't change based on your opinion.

2020 was a cap clearing and rebuilding year, they brought a lot of their old guys back in 2021...

You suggesting the 2021 defense that allowed the 2nd fewest points and 9th fewest yards in the NFL shows how clueless you can really be. 2022 they were allowed the 3rd fewest points per drive on defense... despite dragging the 25th lowest scoring offense behind them.

Learn the game.

Because you don't understand football.

You're a QB fanboy who thinks the bestest QB wins, but can't explain how Eli Manning beat Tom twice or Nick Foles beat him once, then could never hold down a starting job for the rest of his career.

True but I'd still say Mozart made his teacher look good more than vice versa.
But how many great artists has he made look good since.

"Rebuilding year"... that's why he signed Cam Newton and franchised Thuney. Right.

2021 defense had a historic playoff beatdown rung up on them and you're talking them up. Lmao.

2022 ya they were amazing... couldn't stop a nosebleed against any decent offense and Justin Fields embarrassed them at home on MNF. Just awesome.

So much cope. Lmao

Cam Newton got 100K guaranteed

Thuney got the franchise tag. Nice try though...

Mac Jones turned it over more than the pancake guy at the Waffle House.

Mac Jones led the NFL in turnovers on a per start basis... again, learn the game... or at least learn how stats work.

You started off fair enough but then you start adding in your own opinion of the way it ended. And I've fully acknowledged maybe the game passed him by or maybe Mac was just a bad choice and with a good QB the whole thing could very well still work just fine but we'll never know.

Cam Newton got 100K guaranteed
Why was BB so desperate for him if he was ReBuiLDiNg?
Thuney got the franchise tag. Nice try though...
"Rebuilding"... lol good one. Have some more of that BS Bill is shoveling your way.

Mac Jones turned it over more than the pancake guy at the Waffle House.
TD, TD, TD, TD, TD, TD, TD, Victory formation <--- that's what was rung up on Bill's defense in 2021. Historic. Their rankings mean sweet jack all, that playoff game is what mattered most. Mac Jones has 0% responsibility for that and the defensive coach who was showing he really is nothing without Brady takes all of the responsibility for that as he should.
Mac Jones led the NFL in turnovers on a per start basis... again, learn the game... or at least learn how stats work.
And yet the defense wasn't all that, as I said. Nice try.

See more make believe. Bill had his hand in everything. And Here Jules is saying he was harder on the O even.

Which one is acting in bad faith here @lancerman

Why was BB so desperate for him if he was ReBuiLDiNg?

"Rebuilding"... lol good one. That BS Bill is shoveling might work on low information fans but doesn't work on me.
