AB & Other "What Could've Been's" From The Brady/Bill Era

Not directly, but he & Kraft refused to change their approach to accommodate Tom. They let Vinatieri go the same way. They didn't want to pay him.
How could they possibly pay him or give him more than a year? He hadn't won a SB for them in a whole year and only won six in twenty years. Time to move on and put Bill's genius to work.

Losing Tom was definitely a team effort but the buck stops with Kraft. Brady should never have played in another uniform and it wouldn't have taken much to get him to stay here.

Yes, Bob hitched his wagon to Belichick - and the flying elvis.

"I'm not the coach or GM. I hope and pray Tom stays, but it's out of my hands. I'm only the owner. It's above my pay grade. And Orthwein did the makeover. There's nothing I can do."

I maintain that the Super Bowl wins vs Carolina and Philadelphia both should've been double digit comfortable wins. They were 7 point favorites in both games and ended up having to sweat out wins. I blame Bill and his **** conservative bend but don't break game plans. Pats were by far the best team in the NFL both years - 14 wins, dominant in many games. Up 11 vs Carolina in the 4th and Bill's **** defense lets Carolina take the lead. Up 10 vs Philadelphia late and Bill's **** defense makes us sweat out another 3 point win.
The disdain I have for this ******* knows no bounds. He certainly had me fooled early in Brady's career.
I'll give Bill the bookend titles - 2001 and 2018. But the other ones I say the Pats won despite Belichick. The 2007 loss is wholly on Belichick. Can't prepare the line for the Giants dline. Brady gets the Pats the lead late and Bills **** defense can't make a ****ing stop.
I have no issue with losing to a better team on the road - like the playoff losses to Denver with Manning. But the 2010 loss to the Jets, the 2007 super bowl - all on Bill the Buffoon. And don't start on the second Philadelphia super bowl - 100% on that jackass.
I will give the duplicitous pond scum (thank you Kevin Mannix) his due for the 01 season (but as it is, Bills **** defense totally coughed up a 14 point lead in the SB) and the 03 title game in Pittsburgh. But I stand firm in that you have another coach maybe you beat the Giants and Philadelphia.

Matt f’n Patricia offensive coordinator is where the former HC who can’t win without Tom lost me for good.

And I bet even Jerod Mayo has the sense to play a guy who took 97% of the defensive snaps for the season in the Super Bowl.

From the Week 4 or 5 of the 2001 season, there was no other quarterback in football I would rather have had to start for the Patriots than Tom Brady. This was based on his attitude and awareness. He had some stinkers and struggles like every other quarterback, but I knew he was learning from them.

I felt the same way about Flutie right after he came back to beat the Colts when Berry put him in in desperation in '88. I have no doubt that Doug would have had tremendous success in the NFL had he been kept in there.

I do believe they win the SB had Brown stayed. That was an unstoppable offense and the D was great. Brown getting cut was the beginning of the end. Brady kind of played with one foot out the door that season. As if he knew he was leaving.

I don't hate KC going for that. Some will call it crazy... but it is SO high % for that team.

Not a dagger... but that is a huge swing by Philly... KC going 0-2 be new for them in the Mahomes era I think.

Ton Brady is a great misspelling.

But TFB is absolutely correct. Look at what Sam Darnold and Geno Smith have done after being cast off by the Jete. They're not super elite, but they're a damned sight better than they were in Jersey. It's one of the reasons I'm slow to get on the "run Drake out of town" train, because he truly didn't have anything approaching professional coaching in his rookie season.

Mahomes had a hell of a game on the stat sheet (I didn't watch the game, so don't know the "eye test"), but just goes to show that hero ball can only get you so far without the other pieces around you. Ask Rodgers or Rapistburger.

He had a few missed throws but his scrambling kept them afloat
