That's an easy answer. Look at Ross' post and tell me where we stand if Brown gets hurt at Wednesday's practice? LOL I actually have to worry about Ben freaking Brown getting hurt.

Or even worse Wilson get hurts forcing Brown to start and now your only back up at 3 positions is Wallace.

I know you watched the revolving door at OL last year and somehow you just assume it won't be as bad this year we'll just magically find someone.
You...know they don't play until September 7th, right?

What happens if anybody gets hurt? **** happens. We need to have a backup to the backup on day 1 just because the backup might get hurt and then we need the backup’s backup?

If you didn’t realize, tomorrow they will start making their practice squad which will almost assuredly house at least one, maybe two, guards, who can be the backup’s backup.
Well at WR it seems like someone felt we needed that many backups for some reason.

I believe there on the practice field tomorrow. One guy gets hurt we might have to cancel the whole session. Or I guess Vrabel would just put pads on lol.

Look I get it I'm freaking out a little but it's not without merit.

I covered that a few posts ago. We prioritized an 8th WR over a 4th guard. Obviously we aren't done but there is no guarantee as to what we will find. It just seems irresponsible to risk that for an 8th WR instead.
But who did you want to keep? Strange? Robinson? If they aren’t good options, they aren’t good options.

No matter how you slice it, guards will be available. We are very high in the waiver order.

Yes and yes. Or Sow. At least they've learned the playbook.

Guards will be available but not necessarily better. We didn't find anyone better last year.

not at this time of the year, PS signings start tomorrow at 12 Eastern. They will go to the PS not the 53.

A player claimed off waivers MUST go to the 53 or 90 man roster. Depending on the time of year. No. A claimed player cannot go to the practice squad. EVER.

The Waiver Claim period for players waived at cut-down ENDS on Wednesday the 27th at 12 EDT. Then players can be signed to the PS. But they are not claimed.

Thanks for the clarification. Sorry @ctpatsfan77 for spreading incorrect info.

WR thoughts.

I don't think Baker is long for this team. I keep going back to him deleting his Pats account. Players don't just randomly do that for laughs. I think they are trying to trade him for a 7th as a gunner with back up WR potential or cut him, but they want to give it more time

Bourne is a guy they are probably still trying to trade, but will cut if they can't, which is a bit bs. Shouldn't do that to a vet at this point in the process, hold him for a week and cutting him only makes it harder. Maybe they are waiting for him to get the all clear medically to avoid an injury settlement?

My main issue how they have dealt with the whole Chism situation. This is just my opinion... But I think there was a clear effort to hold him back on purpose in the hope we could slip him on the PS and elevate him later this year or next year.

I think it has been clear for over a month he's better than the guys they stuck him with or against, and they dragged their feet cause they had their plans at WR already locked in to start the year. And so they slowed his development and didn't let him get in sync with Drake.

But he balled in preseason where they couldn't hide him and forced himself on the roster. Now they are carrying what I think could be a very talented wr who has little time to build anything with Maye. If they instead truly embraced the let the best man get the job mentality I think Chism would likely as already be the 4th guy and trending upward. Just my opinion.

This just isn’t the way receiving units are put together. They aren’t listed 1-5 or 1-6, they are used in separate roles to maximize the space on the field.
Yes and Bourne isn’t in front of any of those guys in any role. During camp Bourne was playing with the 2s and 3s.

Unless there is some injuries, Bourne isn’t seeing the field.

One guy i really dont think is good enough is Westover.

He is worse than Jag, and even at FB he didnt impress me

I really hope we get another TE by september 7th

Swinson being cut is the big surprise for me…we need pass rushers…plural.

Strange…hate to see us cut bait on a first rounder that has been injured…..but this is a new regime….Andrews retired/was forced into retirement, Cardona/Wise/Jon Jones were shipped out, we shopped/may still be shopping Dugger, and talked of trading Jennings….

And Bourne is still on the roster….

Think our roster is gonna see 3-4 more changes before the weekend is over.

To have any chance of DTR they must be on the roster for one business day before going on IR.
So they could claim someone already injured like Lampkin, keep him on the roster for 24 hours and then use one of the eight DTR slots on him? If so, that seems like a no-brainer to me.

Do you understand they can and will be signing other players. Come on use your brain and stop posting stupid stuff. The bottom of our roster was bad. Those players aren’t even jag level. Most if probably all won’t be picked up by other teams. We kept the players who had the best chance of being attractive to other teams so if we find a trading partner or a player on the waiver wire who is better we can grab them and move one of our surplus wr’s or whatever.

Brilliant cut the only backup you have at one position and keep 8 WRs. Make it make sense?

Is it just me, or does there seem to be something incoherent about the last few days?

Last year was the year of constant chopping and changing on the O-line and I hoped that the team would be past it. But the interior O-line is quite puzzling. First, they cut the Andrews Sisters (David still wanted to play and thought he could but would only play in New England) then cut the people playing backup at RG. Are Wallace and Brown better than J. Andrews, Strange and Sow? It would be reassuring if they had played there more during camp. And then the 8 WRs.

I get it that whenever there is a change of coach and front office, players recruited under the old regime are likely to be pushed out. If I recall correctly, that's how Belichick came by some of his best signings. And, given that there have been two changes of regime in two years, that is likely to be even more so.

Then there are the messages coming out of Foxboro. Bedard tweeted that no one should doubt that all the decisions are being made by Cowden and Vrabel, while Curran did a piece to camera saying that Wolf was "100 per cent" to blame for the bad draft in 2024.

On the other hand, Wolf is still giving press conferences that he has final say, but that he and Vrabel are "on the same page".

Perhaps we should discount that, but the way that they are handling Dugger doesn't look good.

Maybe Dugger is a victim of regime change and the new coaching staff has good reason to want to move him out, but why was tweet after tweet coming out saying that they were looking for a trade? Was that some "rat" in the organization?

It's completely un-Belichickian to do your business in public that way. What happens if you can't find a trade partner? You've completely destroyed the relationship with the player. Whatever you think of Dugger's contract, surely he's the kind of player you would rather have on your team than not?

I hope that things will smooth themselves out (Go Pats!) but I am much less reassured than I was earlier in the summer.

Agreed, that was weird. Between him deleting his account and his performance in the last preseason game, I think he will be on the move. He has plenty of natural talent and certainly doesn’t lack confidence, maybe he will be picked up by another team.

Once again the hand wringing in this forum is embarrassing. People act like they are done making moves and the final roster is set when it’s obvious it isn’t. Why are they keeping 8 receivers, oh my, what are they going to do, this is going to cost them the season, they’ll never win again, this is so bad, what are they doing, I can’t stop crying, I’m going to end up dehydrated, my eyes are so red and puffy, everyone’s going to think my kitty died?

Why does anyone bother drafting guards if they can just so easily be found at cut down day.

You guys have some serious over confidence in just finding the solution to our problems on the street.

I guess I should wait a few days but it's not that easy when we have a serious problem on our hands now.

Not to mention everyone just believes that every draft pick we made this year will be an instant success. What if Wilson has some growing pains?

Not to mention everyone has been panicking about Bradbury all camp too. But Ben Brown can back up at center and guard so we have no problems. And Wallace is at guard so we can pretend he didn't suck last year since it's not the same position.

What does BB have anything to do w today’s Pats (& their personnel mgmt)?

Vrabel is NOT from any (if it existed) BB tree.

He played for BB; ….. he learned his coaching elsewhere/whom.

I’m not sure how much the BB secretive, closehold **** works anyway in today’s media environment. Every player; agent ; players mother; and dude w an press pass can twit -insta-fakebook to the whole world.
