For 2024….and it was a disaster. But before that it was Bill. Anyone who thinks Bill allowed someone else to make personnel decisions… didn’t follow the team for 20 years.
Bill was here for 23 years. After 2019, there were big announcements that he would be more collaborative. We talked about this endlessly.

This is going to drive me crazy this year. I can already see Wolf as the scapegoat for anything that goes wrong.
We have expended so many draft picks at IOL that the incredible failure rate needs to be explained: Hines, Strange, Sow, Robinson, Wallace, Andrews...

How can we miss on 6 straight picks?

Something is very wrong here.

And many of us including me, myself and I understood that Bill made the final decision...similar to how Vrabel makes the final decision now.

If there was a change, what was the change?

Well, by 2017 BB had turned into a very bitter & begrudging narcissist who (because of the ego match with RKK & Brady) seemed out to prove that he could make anyone a star, and almost like he wanted to spurn any draft scouting, and conventional rankings to simply make odd and bottom-feeding picks to try to restore that lore of his jedi-like gm ability to find gems in the trash & coaching prowess to make scrubs into pro-bowlers.
Problem is - his guess work and dumpster diving magic ran out, and he bombed on almost everything the last 7 years.
The only notable draft picks between 17-23 for BB were: Onwenu, Barmore, Gonzo

Or, he traded many picks for proven veterans to maximize the window (which explains the multiple picks lost to trades), he swung for the fences frequently, like he did with Easley, and the team lost multiple important draft picks to Deflategate.

If you look at what KC is doing, you'll see some similarity. As they are constantly trading picks for vets, and when they do draft someone, they are oozing tons of speed. But they are raw, and there are a lot of busts. Welcome to life as a dynasty.

And guess what? Some scrubs did actually become Pro Bowlers still even in these later years!?!

We’ve also had putrid coaching going on for 3 years now. People don’t seem to talk about that much when it comes to our draft picks failing to develop.

Ditto (approximately) for me Which means that I know how to use a slide rule, and was pretty good with it.

However, I am still working, and mostly with youngsters (students), and have a wife who is very social media savvy, so I at least know what Tik Tok is (mostly)
I still have my slide rule my dad gave me upon his return from Viet Nam in 1968

So there was no change?

Kraft was just blowing smoke?

Do you seriously not understand what it means to do things differently after 2019?

Nailed it: that was the last time I listened to a BB presser: started hating him after that very year.
