And I suspect taking the UNC job has as much to do with setting his sons up for their coaching careers as anything.

I've been reading and listening to a lot of pods as I prep for gambling on the upcoming college season. Two former Pats defensive coordinators came up prominently in my research. First, Ryan Day was ripped for hiring Fat Matt as Ohio State's DC. Professional gamblers (especially) think he's a clown and he'll be a terrible college coach (he's no longer hirable in the NFL after his last gig with the Eagles). I took the under on Ohio State for 10.5 wins for a variety of reasons, one of which was definitely Fat Matt.

Washington, otoh, was downgraded for losing Steve Belichick. He was praised for what a great job he did for the Huskies as DC. His moving on made bettors concerned about UW's prospects.

The point of this is that I don't think Steve and Brian need their dad's help in their coaching careers. They're both highly respected. Steve was in line for a college head coaching job sooner rather than later and Brian will get a chance somewhere to be a college or pro DC without family help.

Tom Brady was named the starting QB for Michigan in both 1998 and 1999. Henson would platoon with Brady the first 5 games in 1999 until Brady outperformed him so badly that Coach Carr stopped the platoon.

This "GOAT coach hires incompetents because he needs to isolate himself from evil owner" logic is crap.

Why would someone who cares so much about legacy (or at least used to) decide the thing to do is hire incompetents?

Why would someone with such (claimed) stature let himself be ****ed by the ownership?

If the GOAT coach didn't like the way the owners were treating him the fix was easy: leave and go to another team.

Of course then you have to explain why other teams wouldn't give him the kind of power he was getting from the Krafts so your logic fails again.

The thing that fits the pattern the best is he lost his fastball and fell into the honey trap. Delilah cut off Sampson's hair. The one that ****ed him was the Bunny.

It's called a mistake he hired someone he trusted that he felt had enough football knowledge to handle the transition and it didn't work out. He didn't intentionally hire someone incompetent.

He didn't leave because he had 20 years invested and thought he could still make it work if he brought in some new guys that he trusted. Plus it didn't happen all at once. The mistrust between Bill and the Krafts goes back at least until when Kraft gave away the franchise tag. And probably even had some roots in the "Gates" and they still managed to win.

Bottom line Bill was not leaving here for anything until he was fully ready to retire and Kraft should have given him more of a chance to do it. And he really should have left him with full control until the very end and certainly should not of been grooming his replacement in house undermining him. But he showed the same lack of loyalty that is also on display from the haters here too.

Edit: Actually for Kraft I don't even think it was lack of loyalty as much as not wanting to get left holding the bag again the way he felt with Brady but he should have realized the situation he was about to create.

But definitely a lack of loyalty from the haters here.

Has anyone else noticed that in every pic of them she’s a step or two in front of him?

All ancillary to not picking the right QB. I find it funny how much credit you guys give Brady and then ignore the QB problems after. Give Bill another year and he finds Maye and we would be in a better place now instead of hoping that Vrabel can fix the mess.

Bill never would have drafted Maye, he made that abundantly clear.

The bigger mistake was thinking he could take on ownership and win. The reason he thought he could was the same reason why he thought he could turn MP into an offensive genius and JJ into a defensive genius: arrogance. He thought he had the juice to pull it off, but he didn't.

He said that Maye “ thinks he’s Josh Allen, and he’s no Josh Allen.” Allen was taken with the 7th pick, there’s no way in hell Belichick would have used #3 for the guy he says is “ no Josh Allen.” You guys will literally go to any length to defend Belichick, no matter how absurd it is.

Bill was Lucky Kraft gave him the control he had for the bulk of his time and it really should have lasted until the very end. If you want to pretend it did then so be it but there's been plenty to suggest otherwise.

Those terms obviously have negative conentations and I'd choose different terms I am proudly one. And not ashamed in the least to own the fact that I proudly celebrate the Greatest head coach of all time. The same as I'll never change my screen name in honor of Tom.

Basically the guy who won 6 Superbowls for you with Brady was given one QB to try and replace him and was fired for it not working. Personally I think he deserved one more chance.

Now I've said in the past he didn't help his own cause by failing to Develop Stidham or someone like he did with Jimmy. Or drafting someone like Lamar or Hurts. And doing a reset year with Cam didn't help either. His own age obviously plays a role too. I think ultimately he thought he'd have Brady a little longer than he did and I think he also didn't want to panic without him and he tried to be too calculated.

Which ultimately meant he got one chance with Mac to get it right and I feel he earned more than that.
