Glad they released names early rather than waiting for the nonsense at 4pm Tuesday.

Jets released Phidarian Mathis. I liked him in I think it was the Senior Bowl. Another version of Jeremiah Pharms.

Darius Lassiter is an intriguing prospect just cut…..he was amazing at BYU…..hope Pats give him a look

I am mildly intrigued with Logan Woodside, been in the league 5 years but has only played in 13 games. He is 30 though and probably not a backup but more a 3rd string.

Patriots legend Dalton Keene cut by the Texans with an injury settlement. Signed barely 2 weeks ago lol

I've never understood this line of thinking.

Your ass is Mine until I say your ass isn't Mine... Which in this case is 4pm Tuesday and Not One Minute earlier.

Bill used to release players with strategies so he would have a better chance of keeping them on the PS.

The early releases separates who the team wants to keep.

I like it as a fan, but there might be some disadvantage.

I think there probably is a little strategy behind one or 2 of the early releases. But I think mostly it's about clearing out some guys so there's a few less things to do the day of. I imagine there's a ton going on and needing to inform a few less people can only help. Then I'm sure there are a few favors mixed in for the players and agents too.

Cleaning out is the only strategy I can think of.

Why would you cut a player with two practices left before cutdown, if you plan to keep them, unless they were going to miss practice for some reason anyway? Even still it would be dumb.

Good point it hadn't occurred to me there were practices. Typically the Early round is hours early maybe the night before this is several days so whatever subterfuge might possibly occur probably doesn't apply to this round.

They've kept 77 players.

There are 53 plus 16 practice squad, and a few might be IR'd.

The team has basically told the world most of whom they are interested in keeping three days early.

I don't see any advantage to that.

I agree. Probably not any harm either since our depth is so weak there is likely little interest from the rest of the league.

Likely won't see them on the PS.

More practice time for the ones you didn't cut?

In theory more momentum for the ones who stay, but if you get cut after this big early wave it probably plays games with your head big time.
