You mean to tell me Mayo wasn’t sure how to utilize Dugger? What a shock!
Which was why they shouldn't have not only tagged him, but also re-signed. Had they let him test FA, they probably could've gotten him back on the cheap. No team showed any interest with the transition tag.

Great point. They were competing with themselves.

I’m not even sure he can move to LB candidly as Vrabes was asked about.

You are right. I was wrong. That is even worse for Dugger.
Yeah. Seems between getting injured and getting paid he got sloppy and lazy and complacent.

I’d love to see him come back and prove that a flawed hot take. But….

IMO, the safety depth chart should be:

SS: Peppers, Pettus
FS: some 2-man combo of Woodson/Hawkins/Epps (if all 3 really earn spots then can take from Pettus too and one backs up SS)
Box Safety/LB hybrid: Dugger/Mapu

I don't think Dugger is really a safety in the traditional sense. He's more like a LB. So honestly I think his playing in time is more in competition with the LBs we have outside of Spillane. It's a question of if you'd rather play a traditional LB next to him or go with a dime package look where the 2nd LB is really a 3rd safety. I think that's the role Dugger would thrive in.

Dugger played injured last season and was often played deep where he shouldn't be. Vrabel thinks he might play some LB. I don't know if he is over weight but adding a few pounds to 230 lb might benefit him if he doesn't have the same mobility as before.

Duggar was is and always will be terrible in pass coverage !!!
If your tua or any opposing qb, and it is 3rd and 25, you find Duggar and throw to whoever Duggar is covering to pick up an easy 25!!!!!

Yep. Wasn't this dude a second round pick by failed drafter BeliYoungChick?

Last year the perpetual excuse was an injury to his ankle.

The dude flat out can only be a linebacker. His pass coverage in the backend is even worse than Vederian Lowe's run blocking.

And that's saying something.

In the case of Duggar and Strange that appears to be true.
I don't understand the lack of respect for Strange. He played injured when we were desperate for oline. I get people are upset by where he was drafted, but he's done everything and more that was asked of him.

Yep. Strange makes the 53 or is traded. And not a Joe Milton crappy deal.

But second-rounders of the BB era, Dugger and Mapu? Likely gone.

BTW, what was the former HC doing with those picks? Are we now allowed to question his very flawed decision making? Or do I need to let it go?

But the hacks, flacks, and sycophants who defended BB, would you all stand up?

Cuz it's most of you on this forum.

You must be fun at parties…

Standing proudly thank you very much!

Well that's ominous.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement and one that does not seemingly justify a $9.75m in 2025 salary.
There's a role, if he does what Vrabel wants.

This might become a Lawyer Milloy 2003 situation....Take a cut or take a bus.
My guess is they have asked him to move to LB and he's been unable to grasp the defense for whatever reason.

Looking at the roster pre-camp it wasn't hard to visualize Dugger (and possibly other safeties) in a hybrid sort of role, it seemed to be a position of strength with a good and flexible talent mix. At this point though that seems very much up in the air largely because of Dugger falling off the planet. Let's hope it's a combo of coming back from injury and correctable confusion that can be salvaged but it doesn't look promising right now.
