My only point to Love JJ McCarthy was that Javon Baker was never going to from not playing on special teams to being the point man for them z he could possibly get some playing time on them, but not as the gunner in a real game.

Baker has been pretty steady, while Chism continues to trend upward. Baker was a borderline 1 and solidly 2..... Still is. Chism was a 3 and now is a borderline 1 as well with a few weeks left to go. He is seeing just as much time with the 1s as Baker right now i think if not more....

Baker will continue to do what he's been doing.. which is enough to make the PS and an outside roster push... Chism has passed that point. And if his trend upwards continues he will go from practically a roster lock to a lock that might actually push for game time action sooner rather than later.

Mr. Chism sure looks like a lock on some NFL team's 53. Since he is admittedly a guy I like, I certainly hope it's the Patriots.

He’s a football player, plain and simple. Forget about the 40 time, he’s a playmaker. He does something good every time he touches the ball.

Gonna be a numbers game…right now I have it:

Diggs, Douglas, Williams, Boutte, Hollins, and Chism.

I don’t see Bourne making the team…think he will be traded along with Cole Strange (so many teams have injuries on the interior OL). Baker to PS. Polk is done here, IMO. Can’t make the club from the tub.

I don't think Maye is there yet, and especially if they are going to be a run first team. I think they'll be 2500 yards on the ground, and I think that Maye is going to be sub 3500, like Jordan Love was last year. That would put them just under 350 yards per game, and into the top 10-15 in NFL offenses. That would be quite the turn around. 4000 yards would put him in a very elite group, and they would certainly be a playoff team.

Let's hope you're more right than me.

Hopefully Maye gets better protection this season and starts to dial in the passing as the season progress and everybody gets on the same page and start to master McDaniel's complex offense.

I'm projecting about 3,500 yards passing and 28 passing TDs for Maye. That should be an improvement over last year without being unrealistic. He only had 2,276 passing yards and 15 passing TDs his rookie year. So that's about a 50% improvement projection for year 2.

I'm not too fussed who gets the yards among the WRs as long as they get enough yards for first downs and are reading the plays the same as Maye.

The only true locks at WR in my amateur opinion are
- Diggs (money)
- Douglas (production)
- Williams (draft status)

Every other receiver is still auditioning for a role.

Disagree. I believe Chism has already shown what he can bring to the team in an Edelman slot role, and he’s going to be on the 53. In fact I don’t know if there is a player that has been more consistent from Day 1 of camp in the spring until now. Every report on him consistently throughout the process has been positive.

Chism is making it over Baker push come to shove.

As far as stats.. someone will be left without a seat who deserves them. And that is Boutte. Williams will be on the field a lot of nothing else than to stretch the field. Pop and Chism handle the slot. Diggs is a guy we'll see a lot and Hollins for run plays and play action. No where for Baker or Boutte unless someone goes down.
