I think Chism is must have. Having a slot you can get the ball to in under 2 seconds is a QB’s best friend. That’s how the Patriots beat the Seahawks in the Super Bowl. I will never forget the Dan Quinn telling Michael Bennett they had to get to Brady, and Bennett telling him that they were getting to Brady but the ball was already gone. Edelman was the key to winning that game, and Chism can give Maye that same outlet.
I appreciate the optimism.

I do think he had a good week but I'm still a long way off from thinking he has a chance to be in that club.

But unlike Edelman he has been a WR his entire career.
He hasn't made the team yet or played an NFL down. I like him but we've seen training camp heroes come and go...

Have you watched his college tape? I have, and that’s what sold me long ago. He looked exactly like Edelman, and he’s been doing the same things in his time here. I’m a believer. If no one else sees it I’m fine with that, I really like what I have seen and believe he’s going to be a really good pro.

I like the guy and yes I have watched his college highlights and that means nothing to me. He looks great but so don't 100 other rookie receivers who are currently on NFL camp rosters.

What matters is what they achieve. I understand you are high on him....I'm taking a wait and see approach.

As I've mentioned elsewhere, he had 8 targets on 32 snaps, about 20 of which were pass attempts, so 25% of his total snaps and about 40% of passing downs the QBs threw to Chism.

It's not proof he's going to make the team, but it's proof that he's getting where he needs to be to make plays.

The only true locks at WR in my amateur opinion are
- Diggs (money)
- Douglas (production)
- Williams (draft status)

Every other receiver is still auditioning for a role.

Boutte might be our best WR

Chism is making it over Baker push come to shove.

As far as stats.. someone will be left without a seat who deserves them. And that is Boutte. Williams will be on the field a lot of nothing else than to stretch the field. Pop and Chism handle the slot. Diggs is a guy we'll see a lot and Hollins for run plays and play action. No where for Baker or Boutte unless someone goes down.

Diggs 950
Williams 650 (he doesn't need many completions to reach this mark)
Pop/Chism 700
Hollins 200
TE 900
RB 400 (mostly Henderson)
Misc 100

So 3900 yards.

I think Boutte has to be included as a lock

Boutte needs to be in there, if anything as insurance. Let them battle it out and see who does better. Truth be told we have yet to see Diggs play, as much as we believe he will be good, how good we still dont know.
I do believe we will be a running heavy team so im not sure where all this guys slot, unless they can and are willing to block.

Chism has been trending on social media for his catch at practice and game against Washington.

He will never sniff a practice squad.

I don’t know how to fit 7 WRs but they have to.

I continue to be amazed at the assumption that social media trending has influence over anything other than populist thinking.
Would you want your doctor to learn about what's available, and/or decide on your treatment based on what's on social media? Your attorney? Why would a group of professionals as focused and thorough as NFL personnel staff even being paying attention to that?

Agree. What it means to me is he has learned the base offense and performing well with and vs 2nd and 3rd teamers.

If I was concerned about my DR or attorney being recruited by another org and no longer able to be part of my "team" I would be concerned about social media trending. Just because you think it shouldn't have an impact, and FWIW I'd agree with you, doesn't mean it's not a reality. Look at the impact that services like Hudl have had on HS athletics and recruiting.

It could happen real quick if the rookie does prove himself soon but so far he has not passed Boutte yet.

I like Chism as much as anyone. I make the claim I identified him first after the East/West game. However, I think Boutte is a contributor to this offense. Blocks more effectively than the others and we should be doing a lot of running. He catches the ball! I would not like to see him let go. Diggs, Pop, Boutte, Williams, Chism, Hollins. Bourne, Polk, on the outside looking in. Baker a possibility for special teams. I like Jiles before Bourne and Polk.

He’s also been making the most of his targets.

Yeah, thinking about it again this morning I should have included him as well.
