the facts are, the past 2 seasons, Strange has played parts of 13 games out of 34.
he went from a serviceable OG to a borderline player over the past 2 seasons.
if he was the same player he was in 2022, I believe he is the starter and Wilson is prepping to back up both spots and eventually being the full time OC.
unfortunately, Strange is not the same player.
I have to believe it is due to missed time, injuries taking their toll.
it has nothing to do with his contract, which is guaranteed regardless if he is on the team or not.
Agreed. At his peak he was an average player and now after a major injury he seems to be falling down the depth chart. At least when he gets cut the other half of the board will finally admit he was a JAG ala Sony Michel.

According to the poll...

CENTER
Bradbury, Brown

GUARDS
Onwenu, Wilson, Strange, Wallace

TACKLES
Campbell, Moses, Bryant, Jacobs

We have to move Cole Strange; too much redundancy with Bradbury - Brown and Wilson.

Marcus Bryant and Trey Jacobs are better, unless we’ve been witnessing some mirage this offseason.
I'm not going out on a limb and say that: it seems premature. I favor carrying more Tackles; I don't think Corpse Moses is going to last.

I think he was one of the best OL on the team 2-3 years ago but his blocking style might not mesh with what Vrabel / McDaniels / Marrone wants. Kinda similar situation to Jennings.

It’s not a limb to climb on, Jacobs and Bryant have primarily filled in for Moses with the ones. Moreover they have looked decent.

Except that part where Strange is still running with the 1’s and 2’s at multiple positions including center…. and oh yeah, entering the final year of his contract.

Whereas Wallace and Robinson are locked into low cost mid round contracts for years to come and still aren’t playing good enough to start. Why doesn’t the vet Robinson have a leg up on rookie Wilson, never mind Strange… oh yeah, because he isn’t good enough.
I haven't seen any mention of Stange running with the 1's and he seems to be losing spots with the 2's. If Ben Brown is getting snaps at center with the 2nd team then Stange is in trouble to make the 53. You seem to be making things up out of thin air to justify keeping Stange.

Yep: Strange ain't running with the Starters troubling. Also Benny Brown is getting snaps @ C and Guard: and they might like Caedan Wallace @ Guard too.

Stop lying.

Why is Garrett Bradbury sucking so bad?
It’s only a problem if he’s consistently getting beat in games.

Is it a surprise though? He has gotten beat consistently in games throughout his career. I think last year he graded as the worst pass blocking center in the league. Very good run blocker though. Loads of talent. I think they took a chance with an "I can fix him" mentality. We'll see how it plays out but so far the reports are not exactly glowing.

Prior to Kevin O’Connell taking over the Vikings offense Bradbury and that line were one of the lowest sack and pressure lines in the NFL.

They have great players and still give up league leading sacks. It’s a team game and scheme can be bad.

Was anyone else somewhat impressed by how Demontrey Jacobs looked?

I thought we saw numerous instances of Robinson moving people like a young Shaq Mason
I am thinking with some coaching and added experience, he can be a very good OG. maybe he is not that finished product yet, but can he be? I believe yes. If Wilson is next years starting OC, there will be a need for a LG next year. Maybe also a RG depending on Onwenu's performance against his cap hit. Robinson on the PS with coaching could be a candidate next year.

I don't think there is a need for a back up OC. Brown has already taken that position, and Wilson may be the starting OC by years end, or next year.

I think using salary as a reason for Strange falling out is incorrect. if he was the best player for the position, he would be playing. he isn't.
he simply is not good enough. perhaps it's because of his prior injury.
You project Wilson moving to center ASAP, so we have at mid-season
starters and backups as

PICK (5-6)
starting LG: ???
starting center - Wilson
starting RG: Onwenu
backup center - Bradbury (or Brown if he pushes Bradbury off the roster to start the season)
backup swing OG: Wallace
#6 IOL: utility backup (includes #3 center if we don't already have one)
=============
The OPEN QUESTION is who are the starting LG when Wilson moves to center and who is the backup. I expect that our primary backup is Wallace.
=====
MY SOLUTION
1) Strange as a starting LG, backup LG, and emergency center
2) The #6 IOL, if we have one is a RG. I would choose L Robinson. To me, he is worth a year of development.

@TommyD4207: V Lowe have potential.

looks good, other than we don't know whether Lowe is a better than Jacobs. Both are OK as a #4 OT.

ONE QUESTION
Who are our starting and backup LG's for the season? to start the season and for the playoff run?

I don't project Wilson moving to OC this year. perhaps next year
I had projected Strange as back up thru out the interior OL, but it appears Brown getting some time at LG, has moved ahead of Strange.
Wallace seemingly is also in the mix as back up OG
I am thinking-Campbell-Wilson-Bradbury-Onwenu-Moses. back up-Bryant-Wallace-Brown-Wallace-Lowe. Robinson or Jacobs if there is a 10th.

fair enough

For a 10th, I think that a 4th OG more valuable that a 5th OT. Being the only backup OG is a lot to put on Wallace. I would guess that he is also the 6th OL in the jumbo set as he was last year.

Cole Strange got more work in on Monday behind Mike Onwenu at right guard, which has been the case in recent practices. Perhaps the goal is to see if he can handle the versatility on both sides, possibly giving him an opportunity as Vrabel and the coaching staff continue trying to figure out thier depth chart. … Caedan Wallace seems to have locked in the backup spot behind rookie Jared Wilson, who has stepped into Strange’s spot at left guard and continues to hold it down after being elevated into the top spot in recent weeks.
