Hollins As A Special Teamer

Oops he did it again… these reports suck for you guys.

I believe Baker will continue to do just this.
but when they ask him to run set plays, read the defense and see what the QB see's, will he be running into other WR's or TE's? will he be where Maye expects him to be?

Exactly. Running a lane on ST with a fixed job is one thing. Being a WR in Josh's system is completely different.

What I said was Hollins record of production is not impressive, it’s even as bad in terms of making receptions as NKeel Harry.
Surely you didn’t see that as a complete evaluation and comparison of the 2 players right?

I also said that at Hollins level of production in getting open and catching passes there wouldn’t be much drop off if any to whoever took his place since 3 guys we all agreed didn’t belong here we’re about the same.

Maybe you can tell me what you expect form Hollins so we can discuss the value over replacement
you can look at snaps and rcpts. but that is kind of out of Hollins control
perhaps a better stat is 31 rcpts. 25 1st downs. 5 td's

I don’t take anything from last year as serious, there was actually a play in a game where Hunter Henry got banged up where two Patriot players ran right into each other.

It’s a fresh start, last year’s assessment was made by clowns… also Baker looks to have improved since. He’s been getting reps with the ones, that’s progress.

How is it out of his control to get open and get the ball?

If he got those over 11 years vs 7 games, is that different?

What’s out of his control is whether the play call has him staying in to block, or chipping then providing the safety valve for a downfield play where he is the eighth or ninth option. You’re smart enough to know that.

He’s a wide receiver not a TE. He is running routes like every other Wr

Sounds like Upward trajectory?

someone has to throw him the ball

If he drops it or has problems blame Mayo and last season.

Youve already figured that out.

Wozzy usually blames Mac Jones for things like that

We might be living in a world where Baker squeaks onto the team, and Polk is cut.

Are you arguing his entitled career there has been a conspiracy against him that he has no trouble gettting open, but every Qb doesn’t want to throw him the ball? Come on.

Here I randomly picked a few receivers across the league, not stars just borderline starter guys.
Hollins has played 3420 snaps and caught 162 passes. Per 1000 snaps (roughly a full season of starting) he would catch 47 passes.

Kendrick Bourne is 292/3882 which would equal 75 catches.
(Given the same opportunity Bourne catches 60% more passes)

Darius Slayton. 259/4580. 57

Elijah Moore. 200/3002 67

Tyler Boyd. 552/6606. 84.

Hollins is comparable in this metric to NKeal Harry
64/1329 48.

When Hollins is on the field at WR his chances of catching a pass are a little less than NKeal Harry.

If you want to argue that’s because QBs don’t like him, can’t really say that’s reasonable

I am not arguing
I am not saying Mack Hollins is a lock for the team. in fact I am saying he is not a lock.
he does not have a good catch percentage
I am also saying last year, and his 1 season with the Raiders, his opportunities when thrown the ball, were productive, with 1st downs and TD's resulting.

We might be living in a world where Baker squeaks onto the team, and Polk is cut.
Polk has been beating out Hollins in camp.

Upward trajectory. Like a bottle rocket

Polk injured last weeks game and has missed practice ever since. he is not traveling with the team to Minn.

But thats part of the point. He wasn’t productive last year or with the Raiders when you compare his production to his playing time.
He caught 31 passes last year playing 721 snaps. I don’t really care what percentage of them were first downs, WRs all average over 10 yards a catch, a lot of catches are for first downs. To put that production in perspective, if he played 100% if the snaps at outside receiver he would have total 47 receptions for 570 yards. That is a severe detriment to an offense. And we aren’t saying oh he was the 5th option, because he played 2/3 of the snaps. More than any other Bills receiver, TE or RB. He was essentially WR1.
These numbers, and what went into them, week after week of the dide being relied on and struggling to get open is why he on his 5th team in 5 years.

With the raiders he played 94% of the snaps and had less than 700 yards. So more of the same.

and I am saying that playing 66% of the offensive snaps and getting 51 targets is not all on him.
I am saying, those 51 targets were productive
