I would carry an extra DB or Lineman over those two. And nobody loves WR's more than me.Not really.
The Pats committed a mistake and its time to admit it and move on. Its like buying a car that's a Lemon. You don't want to believe it and will point to every good thing about the piece of junk. Time is running out for Baker and Polk.
As we have seen with other Pats Busts, keeping them on the team is fruitless. They don't turn it around and improve. Boutte has shown more reason to keep around.
The 4th WR will not play a lot,, and you can’t hold Williams back as 5th. So there isn’t playing time. That's speculative. We've only had 3 weeks of practices and one preseason game. Nothing is confirmed.
If we had 5 WRs who did what Pop and Boutte did last year i'd agree with you. But we don't.
Not sure about the inactive designation. Hes a proven WR4/5 and special teams player. He knows the offense, is a big target in the RZ, and is an effective run blocker at the WR position. Everyone not named Boutte, Pop, and Diggs at WR are unproven at the NFL level at the WR position.
You would also first try to repair the car you thought was going to be great for you.Not really.

Since the team is run by Vrabel and not you, I would expect he won’t keep Hollins around to sit on the bench and take a spot from a young developing player.I agree that If Vrabel believes that, then Hollins won't make the team.
Since the team is run by Vrabel and not by you, I would expect Hollins to be active in every game that he is healthy enough to play, except perhaps for Game 17.
How many WR's do you expect us to have on the 53?Since the team is run by Vrabel and not you, I would expect he won’t keep Hollins around to sit on the bench and take a spot from a young developing player.
The past few minutes haven’t been kind for the negative types…

You just told me that Baker has been on a Upward Trajectory in camp and that the NE defense is way better than Washington's.Neither did Kyle Williams, Chism, Hooper or Hollins… cut them all.
Meanwhile John Jiles led us in receiving in a preseason game = lock
Serious question here… did the first two offensive units pass games look good?
The answer is no…
They did last season… should again. Washington not so much…
You haven’t been paying attention… you're also a clinically challenged negative nancy.
I don’t care about Baker one way or another, but positive feedback from the media doesn’t cease to exist just because you have an agenda.
Not if I bought from you.You would also first try to repair the car you thought was going to be great for you.
What happened to 4?5 or 6
perhaps I am reading too much into the practice notes, but I think CHism has most definitely passed Hollins.Chism has not moved ahead of Hollins maybe after Friday he gets a chance this week but we haven't seen it yet.
Also while Williams spot on the roster might be safer he hasn't actually passed Hollins yet either.
Right now Pop and Diggs are 1 and 2. And Boutte and Hollins seem to be sharing WR3 (just a guess based on history but seems like they like Hollins size and blocking and Boutte is the better receiver).
I think Chism and Baker have made strides but thus far it does not seem as though they've passed anyone.
We obviously can't know Vrabel's and McD's opinion on the future upside of each player but my thinking is the loser of the Boutte/Hollins battle then also has to deal with potentially losing out to a lesser player with a higher ceiling. Or they just risk it and put that player on the practice squad to keep the better on the 53 (a lot of factors go into this decision).
I am not leaving Bourne out: had one of his best years with McDaniels.perhaps I am reading too much into the practice notes, but I think CHism has most definitely passed Hollins.
doesn't mean Hollins will not be on the team.
but if we are looking at 6, for me it is Diggs, Pop, Williams, Chism, Boutte, Hollins
Who knows. Depends on the groupings and play calls. If they are going run-heavy (over 450 runs this year), Hollins is their best blocking WR.The 4th WR will not play a lot,, and you can’t hold Williams back as 5th. So there isn’t playing time.
That would be ideal. Need players to validate the should be on the roster first.I don’t think Hollins is any better than the next guy in line to play 20% of the special teams snaps.
I’d rather have a guy in that roster spot who can help us more than this year when the help this year would be negligible
Not sure why the Harry comparison is relevant. One guy has played in the NFL 7 years and 4500 career snaps the other sucks is out of football.Hollins had a career reception per snap rate lower than NKeel Harry. I don’t think whoever WR5 or 6 of there is one, will do much worse than that.
Small minded people thinking small minded thoughts. Not if I bought from you.
This is going to be a run first team this year. Any WR who can excel at blocking is going to have an advantage, as is one who makes plays on specials. I agree with everyone else that it's Diggs, Pop, and Boutte top 3, and then Williams as the developmental guy because he's drafted by this administration. IMO, that leaves Hollins, Baker and Chism fighting for two spots. I doubt they'll carry 7, 6 seems about right, with a guy on PS. Based on reading the tea leaves so far, Hollins and Baker make it, Chism on PS, Polk to IR, everyone else is out.I would carry an extra DB or Lineman over those two. And nobody loves WR's more than me.
4 play regularly, more make the rosterWhat happened to 4?
I don't know about that: Dobbs missed him twice wide open. I hope Maye doesn't do the same.Who knows. Depends on the groupings and play calls. If they are going run-heavy (over 450 runs this year), Hollins is their best blocking WR.
If Williams isn't getting the offense he won't play a lot.
That would be ideal. Need players to validate the should be on the roster first.
