It was a HUGE win for the buying team. The team that trades away the future and then signs Parsons to a record contract wont be a good team.
When has this type of circumstance ever panned out for the buying team?
A huge win for the buying team? The whole point of a trade is to make your team better and win games, especially playoff games. The Bears won zero playoff games with Mack, zero. The Bears gave up two first-round picks, a third-round pick, and a sixth-round pick for Mack, a second-round pick, and a conditional fifth-round pick. Now you're saying the Bears won the trade because the Raiders drafted like **** in hindsight? There is only 1 comparable trade. It was a HUGE win for the buying team.
Khalil Mack and Cole Kmet for Josh Jacobs, Damon Arnette and Brya Edwards
Mack had 3 pro Bowl seasons in Chicago, the first year he finished 2nd in Defensive Player of the Year. Kmet was a contributor. Jacobs is a good player, the other picks washed out.
100% the Mack trade was a win for Chicago, nor even remotely close.
Never impossible, but yes, trades with players of this magnitude are very rarely completed. Salary cap implications, draft pick compensation, and probably most importantly.....these are STUD players. I would be shocked if McC or Parsons aren't taking snaps for their current teams in week 1.I think he's literally UNTRADEABLE. Think about it. To make the deal even start to have sense you literally have to immediately sign him for a MINIMUM of 4 years and $160+ with most of that guaranteed. I'm not sure what that does for your salary structure, but nothing good and will eliminate a lot of teams off the bat.
No doubt he is a great player who is position flexible as well as impactful, but the salary is just the start of the cost to get him. I'm sure you start with a first, but it will be more, and I won't be surprised if a starting player is added too.
That is a lot to give up UNLESS you are going all in to win a SUPERBOWL the next 2 years. To me that is the ONLY team that it makes sense to do this. That probably narrows it down to about 5 teams, and a most of those have cap or salary structure issues that make it impossible to add a $40+MM/yr contract.
It is a very, very narrow market if there is one at all, even for a great player like him. As QB's and Edge rushers are getting to be standard $40MM/yr guys and WR's are getting closer year by year, You are going to have a LOT of top heavy teams who will not be able to afford quality depth and that has been a road map to failure a lot of times in the past.
No, Jerry and Micah will have to reach some agreement that will likely make Micah have to get by on something like $2.2MM/game.
We are listening to offersim requesting a trade too
Ferguson is a good young TE. Playing with Cooper rush for 12 games isn't going to help anyone's stats. I don't know what his contract was, but probably not unreasonable for TE position?Meanwhile, Jerruh payed a TE with less than 500 yards & ZERO touchdowns…
Ferguson is decent, but the point is that Parsons is a player you pay; early if you can. Point, blank, period.Ferguson is a good young TE. Playing with Cooper rush for 12 games isn't going to help anyone's stats. I don't know what his contract was, but probably not unreasonable for TE position?
No arguments here. This is all Jerry's fault. You wait to pay Dak, Lamb and now Parsons. He's the master of his own demise.Ferguson is decent, but the point is that Parsons is a player you pay; early if you can. Point, blank, period.
I think Jerry misjudged what Parsons commitment level was.Ferguson is decent, but the point is that Parsons is a player you pay; early if you can. Point, blank, period.
Even if he would spend the money, the draft compensation will be too much imo.I think Jerry misjudged what Parsons commitment level was.
Question is will Robert Kraft make him the highest paid defensive player in league history?
cause that’s what this deal will take.
Is two firsts to much for Micah Parsons?Even if he would spend the money, the draft compensation will be too much imo.
I think it will be more than 2 1sts, which is a lot in it's own.Is two firsts to much for Micah Parsons?
If getting him essentially guaranteed you a playoff spot each season I’d say it’s not too much.
