If Strange wasn't a first round pick (2 head coaches ago) then he would get about as much attention on this board as Sidy Sow. People seem to keep trying to claim he can play multiple positions when he really hasn't played anywhere well.
At his best in 2022 until his injury in 2023, his performance was similar to a left guard version of Shaq Mason - he really played well in the run game, and was inconsistent in pass protection. Of course Mason was a 4th rounder and Strange was a 1st rounder who was viewed as a 3rd rounder by many, so that’s caused a lot of anger around here.

Anyway, the problem now is that whatever he was at that point, he’s now trying to come back from a torn patella which isn’t easy. So he might not have today what he had then. I’m curious to see what he looks like in preseason game 1.

There were times during his rookie year and in 2023 he played pretty well considering Andrews went to IR, Klemm, Yates, and Fat Matt were coaching the line. Even in his 2nd year he had his moments. Due to his injury (which cuts into development), sketch coaching in 2023 & 2024, and a new regime, he's fighting (offseason award winner) to stay on the depth chart.
You know that fat Matt slimmed down, right?

Agreed. It’s what he played for four years at Penn State. But guard had less responsibility.

Doug Marrone is trying to salvage this player. But the team needs him at RT. Demontrey Jacobs and Yasir Durant? Good grief!
Rather use someone at a position of their strength rather than force them into a position they might be a liability at.

He was actually Penn State's LT in his first season but was beaten out by Olu Fashanu at the position the following year.

Exactly the moving goal posts spin doctors on PatsFans..com anything to justify the pick.
There is no comparison to Sidy Sow. Let's be real. He came in and started a full season. Sidy didn't. Then he played 10 games then was injured. Even coming back last year he looked better than Sidy. If he were taken at the top of the 3rd, it wouldn't have changed the way we think about his play. If anything, it would be the opposite. People would be looking at our 3rd rounder who played 27 games to start his career and hoping he could be a starter again.

Two things: what has happened to Layden Robinson? Never see him mentioned.

If you don't envision Wilson at center eventually, then we don't have a future center on the roster.

Whereas Strange and Sow may still pan out.

Until we get a center, I'm going to consider Wilson the future center.

Nailed it!!!

FYI - Some Roster Moves

I'm actually happy to hear Brown is next man up at Center. I've made it known that I think he could be decent with this new group and coaching. He wasn't awful last year. Strange could be either the starter at LG (until Wilson takes over by week 3) or solid backup at LG & C. But Bradbury might be back in a week, we'll see.
I thought he (Brown)was awful last year.

one of the WR's

2022 - not at the 53 deadline, 2023 - Pierre Strong was a swap not a trade for a 6th or 7th rounder, 2024 - Judon not at the 53 deadline.

So based on the last 4 years, about 0.5 players are traded at the 53 deadline. On PatsFans, Baker is being traded, Polk is being traded, Jennings is being traded, and now Strange is being traded. There is a 50/50 chance that no-one is being traded, and a 50/50 chance that one player is being traded. Therefore there is not a "more likely" candidate as 50/50 does not favor a trade or not a trade.

Recognizing that, I think Polk is a lot more likely to be traded than Strange as we have Diggs, Williams, Douglas, Boutte, and Hollins. Ahead of Strange is a rookie Wilson and Ben Brown. In the end veterans, unless over the hill like Judon, are not traded when the cupboard is bare.

Agreed.

A WR is more likely.

They will probably use him for depth. He's cheap enough/

You sure about that? i'm pretty sure he was a right tackle for penn state for all five years he was there... never saw where he played left tackle for them...

All his starts in 4 years were at RT. He did appear, not start 4 games as a Freshman. I can't remember if he ever took a snap at LT. I'm a PSU fan, can't remember him plating LT.

Campbell's issues seem to come early in each practice. Because it sounds like they start off throwing things at him that he didn't see the day before - White beating him with an inside swim. And Swinson too. Because he's probably trying to get things right so much, he's planning for outside, or power moves before they come... and they catch him. But, as he gets warmed up, he seems to settle down and just play whats in front of him.

Let's just hope he doesn't start so slow by Week 1 - and Crosby wrecks him for some big sacks or fumbles before we get in stride.
Let's just hope this year's coaching staff is intelligent enough to give certain guys help against certain guys. Not rocket science just appeared to be last year.

As far as I know, Wallace only took game snaps at RT. He did, however, practice as LT2 every day for the 4 years he was there according to his Coach. His Coach said as much and said that Wallace should be able to handle both sides.

Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to have panned out. Which means that the Pats still need a RT for the Future.

So at what point do we start to rave about Drake?

He seems to be absolutely balling out through the first week of camp!

Not a lot of mistakes, spreading the ball around to everyone, scoring TDs left and right, and good completion numbers.
When he does it in games with some regularity.
