Please don't put Bedard in the same class as F&M.
Yes, F&M are on a much higher plane of futility than Bedard, but that's hardly an endorsement. Bedard has some decent insights, but they are equalled with some ridiculous takes.

I think Chism's greatest strengths are similar to Pop's, and you're not going to take away too many first team reps away from him. That said, I agree, I want to see more of Chism. He's the type of guy that could really show out in the pre-season.
I 100% agree, Once the staff is set with their top 4, they should give more reps to those competing for the fifth sixth WR spot or the Practice Squad.

Imagine they throw an offense out there with just Henderson in the backfield and 4 WRs and they ask Maye to hit the guy who gets open the quickest: 4 WRs are Diggs, Pop, Kyle Williams and Chism.

Bing, bing, bing. Shades of the 2012 offense with he who shall not be named.

I'd put Henry on the field instead of Chism and now you're talking.

Hollins plays lots and lots of Special Teams. He could make the team simply on ST play. I think that the 25th roster player on Offense in often a STer (labelled either WR or RB).
============
Hollins would be active as a STer, given the team an extra active WR.

Not this ******** again...

I hear the phrase "take the porfit" and it's exactly what McD used to preach to Brady. I hope Maye takes this to heart and not get greedy and look for big plays when there's easy completions.

Fun fact: when Brady and Moss set their TD records in 2007, it was because the Giants were selling out to prevent Brady from moving the chains by throwing to Welker.

Nor yours

We well understand that you would fire someone like Schooler in a heartbeat, and our top STers before him.

Vrabel will decide whether he wants to run a team without ST specialists. Thankfully, that decision isn't up to you.

Hollins was NOT hired to catch for 700 yards. He has been primarily a STer for his entire career, catching 2-3 passes a game. He would not be active based on his WR play; I doubt that he would be in the NFL. The reality is that lots of players are active and playlots of ST reps and few reps on Offense or Defense. We have several FIRST TEAM special teamers. It is a huge plus when they can also be a backup at a position.

I was busy all day yesterday so I didn’t get to follow much… so I appreciate this thread. Speed reading through it gives you a great overview of the day.

Things to note…

Don’t be overly concerned about protection issues. This isn’t football. No pads. Also consider… this defensive front is stupid fast and talented. If they weren’t getting some penetration against even the most talented offensive lines in this league it would be a problem.

Most reports of large offensive gains in the pass game came upon Alex Austin and Jaylin Hawkins… no offense to those guys but they are getting a lot of reps due to their vet status. For this team to be the best it can be they need some young guys to step up and supplant them. The SS unit is really deep, also haven’t heard a peep about CB Miles Battle. The two vets are getting smoked… give the youngsters some opportunities.

Pop Douglas is and always has had stud potential in the slot… it was the offense and passing game that caught up to him… not the other way around.

It was the complete opposite in the SB. Brady could have spammed Wes because the Giants bracketed Moss.

A bit of inference based on my lack of presence at the practice and zero factual information. Just a feeling on my part.

I think part of the reason Wilson is getting so much run at OG is because they ARE happy so far with what they've seen from Bradbury and are also very happy with what they've seen from Wilson. So they are giving Wilson some run at OG to increase his opportunities to get him on the field and get reps in his rookie year.

I love his athleticism, but I worry about his strength and anchor. He came out of the combine sub par in strength (BP) and a LOT weaker than Bradbury whose main weakness is supposed to be he strength and anchor. So, it will bear close watching next week to see how he fairs vs live action before we assign greatness to Wilson. But based on my inference, I think the staff really like what they are seeing ... so far.

BTW- you can also use a similar logic with Wallace. The snaps he seems to be getting at OG could be a factor of the fact they like his development at one of the OT slots, but want to see if he can play elsewhere so they can get him on the field more. It can also mean they hate him at OT and are trying to salvage the pick, but that the beauty of a using inference. It's at your OWN whim.
I don’t think there have been enough practices to be making practice rotation decisions based upon being happy or unhappy with what they see.

This is still the figuring out stage, so what we are seeing is based upon precamp expectations.
To me, those expectations are that Wilson will be the primary IOL backup, first man off the bench for all 3 while competing to win any of those jobs. I think when the first injury happens, Wilson steps in and may ne er leave the field again, assuming he okays as expected.

With Wallace, I think they see him as a guy who needs to develop, but a lock to make the roster. So they are getting him work at G so as a backup he can fill in at more spots. I expect in the next week or 2 at the most he will be back at OT, probably splitting his time at LT and RT. I think this camp, for him, is to evaluate and prepare him to be ready wherever he might be needed. Which is the same thing you are saying.
