A bit of inference based on my lack of presence at the practice and zero factual information. Just a feeling on my part.

I think part of the reason Wilson is getting so much run at OG is because they ARE happy so far with what they've seen from Bradbury and are also very happy with what they've seen from Wilson. So they are giving Wilson some run at OG to increase his opportunities to get him on the field and get reps in his rookie year.

I love his athleticism, but I worry about his strength and anchor. He came out of the combine sub par in strength (BP) and a LOT weaker than Bradbury whose main weakness is supposed to be he strength and anchor. So, it will bear close watching next week to see how he fairs vs live action before we assign greatness to Wilson. But based on my inference, I think the staff really like what they are seeing ... so far.

BTW- you can also use a similar logic with Wallace. The snaps he seems to be getting at OG could be a factor of the fact they like his development at one of the OT slots, but want to see if he can play elsewhere so they can get him on the field more. It can also mean they hate him at OT and are trying to salvage the pick, but that the beauty of a using inference. It's at your OWN whim.

I like to infer that everyone needs reps to get in shape and prepare to play football, and we will know a lot more when the pads come on and we get deeper into camp.

.... And what does it say about the state of the professional game when it takes a full week of practice before you get the team into full pads. (a little of the capt'n's pissiness must be leaking on me. )

GOD!, capt'n, you are such a pill! What did Orlofsky say that was even the least bit clownworthy. Was he too optimistic or complementary to your favorite team? I'm curious to hear what you'd have RATHER have heard him say.
Orlovsky is one guy I don't mind. It's the local taking heads (Bedard, Felger, Mazz...etc) that are excruciatingly bad.

Something that I want to note

All this attention to Diggs, and him being approachable and a leader for these WRs, it's super positive. Gives them a example on how to perform, and Im glad that Maye seems to start everyday focusing on him, giving the "kudos" he deserves as an estabilished veteran on the roster

We can't stay if he's worth the salary, but it's at least it's someone defenses HAVE to take into consideration all the time, opening venues for our younger to core to shine

Surprised by the day Pop had. Growing more than I expected. He may become the true heir to Edelman and Welker in McDaniels’ offense.

I'm surprised you're surprised, Ross.

Pop was terrific last year and I expect that to continue. He has incredible agility and great hands. But I think it would be a mistake to call him "heir to Edelman and Welker" if you think he is the same kind of player exactly.

What Edelman had and Pop doesn't is the ability to make an extra yard or two after contact, which often made the difference between a first down or not. His strength also made him more of a threat on jet-sweeps and receiver screens. There's not much Pop can do about his size and strength, but perhaps he'll learn to exploit his agility more with the ball in his hand, as the great Danny Woodhead did.

At any rate, I expect McDaniels to make better use of him than AvP.

Sounds like the D is having a decent day. But again seems like Drake is battling through to make some plays. And sounds like Pop, Boutte, and Henry playing well today. Baker got one too.

Definitely too early to start making assumptions but here goes anyway....Diggs, Pop, and Williams are locks. Looks like Boutte is taking the early lead out of the rest. And if we just assume his size and STs still gives Hollins a good chance despite his injury then that could be your 5.

The rest will need to start doing something big to either force the team to carry 6 or even 7 or to beat out one of those 5.

PS I'm not automatic on Hollins as 5th but trying to give him the benefit of the doubt plus I'm starting to see some separation from those top 4 and the rest. (Again way to early assumptions)
Hollins plays lots and lots of Special Teams. He could make the team simply on ST play. I think that the 25th roster player on Offense in often a STer (labelled either WR or RB).
============
Hollins would be active as a STer, given the team an extra active WR.

So how are we getting all those video tweets from various Patriots beat guys?
I don't think it is registered media, for a lack of a better word. Some people attend as fans and then post videos under a media type of name, so it looks like a formal media outlet but it isn't.

Many media folks wondered whether Pop would fit in better than say Boutte.

I suspect that Pop has locked in his spot even before the pads are put on. He has shown that he is more than just a slot receiver.

Was he lining up outside? I think he has shown that he is a slot WR, but a very good one. That said I'm not there in person so this is conjecture on my part.

Sounds like Maye needs to work on his footwork.. That he's falling back into the habit from his Senior year of college...

Really needs to start getting some 2nd/1st team reps.
I think Chism's greatest strengths are similar to Pop's, and you're not going to take away too many first team reps away from him. That said, I agree, I want to see more of Chism. He's the type of guy that could really show out in the pre-season.

If the Pats had a meaningless last game, could Vrabel actually activate himself?
If the league approved it (someone tried to do that during COVID, but the league said no), but his entire coaching salary would then count on the cap.

To hear the media tell it, I thought those kids would have to throw the balls up to him and hope he could hold onto them.
