Speculation - Diggs to Start Season on the PUP?

He should participate to the degree he is medically able. Keeping him out of practice until the 5th or 6th week of the season is just plaing wrong. Even if he isn't ready to play in Game One, he should be on the 53 and brought in when he is ready.

If necessary, he can be put on IR for as long as needed. That is much, much different than PUP.
Looks like he wasn’t even on pup for a day

I didn’t even know Hollins was injured. I guess that explains why he wasn’t at Maye’s throwing camp and why he was pretty quiet in minicamp.

He can look great in workouts and the muscles around the injured knee can be in great shape, but the ACL ligaments may not be ready yet to handle full speed cutting in full pads. So there'd be increased risk of reinjury if rushed.

At least that's what I think I understand of how this works.
Pads don't make a difference. If he can run and cut a full speed in shorts and shells, he can do it in pads, which are almost non existent for a WR. Now can he take contact, that remains to be seen. From the footage I've seen, he appears to be running and cutting at what appears to be full speed.

you think he can Bustamove right about now?

this post needs a sound track to go with it...

As I suspected Lowe, Hollins, Tavai to name a few are assigned to PUP. I didn't see Diggs name assigned unless something has changed?

question for you? If a player is assigned to PUP does this mean they also have to miss the first 4 games of the season provided they make the team?

@signbabybrady and @BUSTAMOVE and I have posted about this. Hollins is dealing with a shoulder that he got late last season. My assumption is this gives guys like chism and Boutte more opportunities during camp.

Adrian Peterson returned from an ACL in 9 months to start. Diggs will be at 9 months in early August. It is a quick return but not unprecedented.
This is Huge for Drake and the entire offense for Diggs to be a full participant. I'm certain Vrabel's going to give him veteran rest days and not over do it with him during camp. However it's important for Diggs to be involved from day one with Drake.

Can be activated at anytime during camp but if you never get activated you go to pup instead of IR at cut downs.

Much appreciated. As I've mentioned Hollins unavailability is allowing guys like Chism and Boutte for example more reps and opportunities. A complimentary wr at 31 dealing with a shoulder isn't a recipe for success.

Hoping for at least 1000 yards this year for Diggs. The last NE receiver to have that was Edelman.

About 10 TDs looks right. Maye only had 15 passing TDs all last season, so Diggs should provide a needed shot in the arm.

What Diggs has that no other WR has on the team is he had played in championship games and had been an all pro.. he's a supreme route runner and seems like he's always open. JC Jackson's cleats marks are still stuck in the turf at Gillette from Diggs.

Here’s to hoping that he’s not pushing his recovery too quickly. But man, that’s pretty remarkable to be that far along from an ACL injury just 8 months later. Great news
The ACL recovering process has gotten remarkably better since the career ender it used to be. It's the recovery process that determines how fast a player can get back. Diggs has clearly put in the work. I feel like him going through the injury has Sharpened his focus and he wants to prove he is still elite.

players can be taken off pup at any time prior to cut down day... if they are removed, then they are good to go...

If they remain on the PUP list after cut down day, they have to miss the first four games...
