I agree.
on the cusp of camp starting, my opinion is 4 OL spots are locked down, barring injury or retirement. LG is wide open, may the best player over the summer win the job.
Marrone is interesting, and I hope he meshes well with McD.
Marrone played OL in college, and while he hung around the NFL for a good 5-6 years, with 6 teams, but only saw action in 4-5 reg season games.
he has been a college OL and TE coach and a college HC. he has also been an NFL OL and TE coach, as well as an NFL OC and HC.
he has a lot of young, in need of coaching, players to work with, plus a couple of vets that should lead the OL room. I expect we not only see an upgrade in OL play, but less OL confusion, fewer penalties and fewer missed assignments.
last season, we saw an injured and poorly coached OL with an offensive scheme that did not help the OL. we saw a QB in Brisset that simply isn't an nfl starting QB. we saw no playmakers at WR. Stevenson and Gibson flashed when the OL did their jobs. the only bright spot was Maye.
we now should see a much improved offensive scheme and OL coaching. we have playmakers at every skill position.
