Is this a top 10 defense??
Given health, it certainly seems that we are top 10 Defense. We were #7 in 2023 and are improved from then.

THE TWENTY-MAN CORE (if the 20 is healthy, they should get all the defensive reps except for Special Teams.

A SOLID ELEVEN
Williams, Barmore, White
Landry, Spillane, Ellis
Gonzalez, Davis, Jones, Peppers, Dugger

OK NINE BACKUPS
Tonga, Farmer
Chaisson, Jennings, Tavai, Gibbens, Swinson
Austin, Woodsen
=====================
YES WE NEED AN OL OR TWO FROM
Roy and Pharms or an acquisition

"BOTTOM" OF THE ROSTER: LOTS OF PLAYERS WHO COULD MAKE THE ROSTER PRIMARILY AS A SPECIAL TEAMER
Mapu
Hawkins
Pettus
Bolden
Dial
Epps (does he even play Special Teams?)

405 6 times. Could of got 7 or 8 if he chose to use his spotter. Big boy weights. Just checked his pro day results and he benched 225 34 times. Powerful DT was he.

Dude, I'm in my 40s and I did 405x6 the other day with no spotter.

On deadlift...

With a break after 3 reps...

Of like...36 hours and counting..

Seriously, though, glad to see this guy is putting in the work. I'm excited to see what he can do for us.

Pats have the best DT's and defense in the division. This is an easy call.

Barmore had no help, but still had a career year in 2023. Williams assisting with Landry off the edge is going help other guys like White and others to have a good year.
Barring injury or reasonable facsimile thereof, Joshua Farmer looks like he could be a solid rotational player as a Rookie, and eventually an every down steal! He has the size, speed and general skills to work with.

While the 405 sounds impressive considering that williams weighs about 300lbs its not really. Years ago i saw someone that weighed in the low 190s bench the same wgt for the same amount of reps. thats more than twice his body wgt. For williams to be really impressive he would need to do 550-600lbs for six reps. That being said 405 is nothing to sneeze at whether its his BP or your DL.

Yeah, 405 isn't even close to my wheelhouse, that's pretty impressive.
Good for you, you should be able to hit a golf ball 320 yds.

That's a fair point, actually, about the bench numbers. It's reasonably strong, but I'm not sure how it would compare to other players of his size. Not sure about Williams, but I have a 6'7" wingspan, so the long levers mean simply getting to 300lbs is brutal for me, even at 235lbs. I settle at 275 usually for a PR these days.

If only I had the coordination lol. I'm the slice king. The whole hockey player as golf savant perpetuated by Happy Gilmore is a tragically hilarious lie. But my slices look way better than they should at Top Golf

You're obviously pretty big, but you suck at golf...we can work together when I go to Franklin Park...

LMFAO, I Wish I was that strong, I can hit it plenty straight, but only about 240/50 maybe 270 once in awhile (Perfect)...if I was as strong as you, I would hit it 300 without question.
Yeah, golf is different, when I was younger I could hit it 290 or so, but most of the time it was in the woods .

It’s ironic, because you were a hockey player, but try this: splay your hands apart and take practice swings like you are taking a slap shot, repeat 3-4 times. Then when you are hitting your drive make sure to keep your shoulders closed. It’s a drill MacIlroy uses and it works. I started doing it and it straightened my drives right out. Opening up too early causes me to cut the ball.

I have played a lot of golf with hockey players, and they have always been the most natural golfers I have played with.

I am not sold on White.

...just like Uche was nothing without Judon.

I actually am pretty much a neophyte when it comes to golf, so I wasn't actually aware that size was a factor in a drive. I always thought it was speed and form entirely. Interesting.

290 in the woods. My man lol

I'm going to use this next time I hit a few drives. I actually really appreciate this!

Could you two be opening up a new activity for me? Oh man...

I think this season will be really telling for White. The size, talent, and athleticism is there, but his first two seasons have been underwhelming. It’s clear that Vrabel is pushing both the team as a whole and the individual players to give everything they have to be as good as possible, and he’s not going to accept less. And White is now reaching the point where he knows that both his future and his .2nd contract will depend heavily upon what he puts out this season.

I love golf, and I play as often as possible. Tee to green I’m pretty good, but my short game sucks. I can’t chip to save my life. I know I need to spend hours practicing to fix it, but I just don’t have the time. So I go out as often as possible, hit some good shots, and continue to post mediocre scores. But I still have a lot of fun with it. And myself and most of the friends I play with always walk and carry our bags, so the exercise is decent. I hope you get out and have some fun with it.

Size help in that it gives a greater arc to your swing, but swing speed and center contact are the biggest factors in distance.

I agree it's a make or break year from him.

He has 1350 career snaps. Hes gotten plenty of field time. With that he has 41 QB pressures (21 QB hurries, 13 QB knockdowns, 6 sacks with 4 of them coming in back to back games.)

He has been somewhat productive but not sure HOW MUCH talent he really has.

Tip: Chip the same way you putt. Use different wedges for height/distance. Keep the ball in the center of your stance. If you are on the 1st cut off the green, don't be afraid to use your putter.

I guarantee you'll be much more confident, experience success, and have more fun.

Thanks RW, I will give it a try. That’s what I do when I’m hitting a bump and run with my 7 iron, but I’ll try it with my wedges as well.

I think his talent is somewhat related to how they use him. IMO he’s a defensive end, not a pass rushing LB. If he was a linebacker I would classify his athleticism as mediocre, because I don’t believe he has the lateral movement or mobility for the position, but as a hand in the dirt defensive end I think he has good athleticism, but again, more as a 4-3 defensive end than a pure edge pass rusher. I do think Vrabel has plans to get the most out of him, and I think he’s one of the reasons they are going with a 3-4 base. I think Barmore/Williams/ and White will be on the field more than the rest of the DL, and White will play a 5 technique when they are in base, which according to Vrabel will be less than 25% of the snaps, but will be able to transition to a 4-3 easily when bringing on Landry, Chaisson, or Swinson. We will find out how accurate this is soon enough, but that’s what o think will happen.

Yep. Same technique. What works for me is to bring the club back the same length. If you start to duff, go 60/40 with more weight on your lead foot

Easiest way to shave strokes off your game.
