A Different View On Our Three starting WR's (presuming health)

I found it odd Blankumsee was put in that category over baker. Baker posses elite speed.
A 4.54 40 isn't what I'd consider 'elite'. It might be functional enough, but elite?

He's a third round pick who has a long way to go before he's a starter. Diggs, Pop, Bourne, Hollins, and Boutte are a head of him until he proves himself.
No.
Diggs and Pop are the only 2 ahead of him despite being a rookie. Watch how it plays out.

Where they are now and how you think it will play out are 2 different things. I think he'll pass a few of them in TC/preseason but he's got to go do it first.

Don't understand why you people are writing off Bourne. He will be much better this season. 2 years removed from his ACL tear.
I’m one of the folks who wrote they wouldn’t be unhappy if he was the odd man out. I’m not writing him off by any means. And I’m not down on him, I’m looking at the numbers game and thinking, maybe incorrectly, that someone needs to go.

1) Diggs, if healthy, is a lock. I think we can all agree. And I’m excited about him. If nothing else he made Josh Allen a better QB
2) Douglas was the top WR in catches and yards last year. I don’t really see a UDFA without any NFL experience moving the top WR, however he looks in preseason. Maybe I’m wrong.
3) Williams is a lock. Not to start but to make the 53
4) And Hollins. I’d be fine being wrong here. But he had his best year with Josh in LA and I think he’s a Josh hire.

That leaves 2 slots in play for Bourne, Boutte, Chism, Polk. And Baker I guess.

I don’t think anyone other than Baker is likely to make it past waivers to the PS. Of the four, I’m most excited about Boutte and Chism. But I see the argument for Bourne.

All this goes out the window if Diggs or Hollins starts the year PUP.

But also the seasons a ways away. There isn’t much else to talk about

Elite may have been the wrong word. But for example supposedly Tyquan had elite speed but he couldn’t put it all together.

Guys need to learn how to combine speed with route running

Hollins in name only, as it's been heavily discussed he hasn't practiced all spring/mini camp. Although I definitely agree with you. Seen as how Williams has been running with the first team in mini camp is telling.. ( not that it's defining)

I would add Javon Baker in the Fast category; though he's not Kyle Williams Fast! not many is.
4.5 isn’t fast for that size, slightly better than average.
All the skill position groups on my small high school football team ran that or better.

Baker’s a very good athlete in every other regard, but inline speed isn’t a strength. He needs to separate himself with his football smarts, route running, mobility and physicality.

Mack Hollins is the second oldest guy on the entire roster. He’ll be 32 this season.

For all we know Josh hired him for preseason to be a coach on the field and teach blocking.

We need him to be running with the starters, or near it by the last preseason game.

One of the reasons I think Bourne s likely to go is that I believe they are looking at more than just this season, and are looking to build for the long run, which Bourne wouldn’t be part of. That goes hand in hand with his contract and age, and I don’t see them cutting a young receiver for what would probably be a one year rental with a high price tag. Add to that the fact that he doesn’t contribute to special teams and it’s really hard to see him sticking.

That would mean he wouldn't be playing as typically the starters don't play the last preseason game!
