Or as a replacement for Stevenson when he coughs the ball up 7 times again.
Stevenson has trade value.

If Henderson is ready to roll. Furthermore, if that undrafted RB out of Cal is a keeper which I've read that he's looking like one.

Problem with some of these guys is that they WILL be cut....better to move them now for ANYTHING...even a case of Miller Lite.

I'd take a few 18 packs in trade compensation.

Yes, there some players on the 53 who are very likely to be cut. They are essentially camp fodder and insurance against injury. Should we get rid of them all now for low level draft choices and then be very sorry when there is an injury or two, especially at one position?
=======
For example. I could see the team believing that a couple of the linebackers will be cut, and they know who they are. Your argument is that we should just trade Mapu and Jennings now (if they are the ones that we expect to cut). I strongly disagree. With an injury or two, they may be better choices than anyone else on the roster or who would easily get and integrate into our systems.
========
If there is a play Vrabel judges just doesn't fit into his system, then that is a different situation. However, it isn't at all a clear that we will get more for a veteran now than late in camp after there are injuries throughout the league.

I really like this roster.

Only change I would make is keeping Boutte over Bourne, and maybe Mapu over Chiasson if he shows well in camp.

we still need camp bodies. no dumping for dumping sakes.

No one is trading for Peppers, Onwenu, Bourne, Polk or any of our OL men.

Here are who i think we can trade.

Jennings - 6th rounder but could be a conditional 5th. He actually is a pretty decent player and his contract is reasonable the next 2 seasons.

Boutte - 7th up to a conditional 5th. A lot is being bet on 1 year. But he is super cheap and has upside. No team is willing to throw more than a 7th at him unless he produces.

Gibson - 6th. He's arguably a little expensive for what he gives you, but he can go pretty much anywhere and be your #2 back and your #1 for a few weeks if someone goes down and fill that role well.
onwenu most certainly has value in the trade market. His salary is 12 mill this year, when probowl type players are getting 22 mill at guard. If the acquiring team doesn't want him the following year for 16 they can just cut him.

Bourne I suspect will be traded at the end of Camp to a team that suffers a WR injury. Again 5 mill a year is great value for him. Another guy who had a bad year coming off a ACL, He should be back to form this year.

I think Sow will get a 6th also.

We seen a train wreck last year, but a lot of that was injury and bad coaching, both color our perspective on those players too darkly.

I don't think we have enough proven talent to trade anyone. Especially Olinemen.

I don't care if they are in a contract year or a crowded position we need competition and the best we can get to win each position even if that means one might get cut at end of TC or walk as a free agent next off-season.

Simply put I'd rather the competition than the compensation.
That's right. None of the starter OL will be traded IMO. We need cohesion and that to become a position of strength not stench like it has been.

I like all the optimism around Chism, but I'd hold off until training camp/pre season to get a proper gadge on him. I'd also pay attention to Hollins as he hasn't been participating in the OTA drills reportedly dealing with something. Although he's a culture building player, if he's not 100% do we keep him over a younger player?

Peppers is the enforcer in the secondary and he told Vrabel he wants to earn his captaincy back. He's healthier, motivated. Petus, Mapu, Epps, Woodson would have to really and truly outplay him for Peppers to be moved or cut. I doubt it.

That's the real problem. We don't have anyone who would command a premium pick in return. Even Matthew Judon, who was our best pass rusher, only gave us back a 3rd round pick.

Thankfully the Judon pick turned into Jared Wilson, a potential starter at center whom we took in the 3rd, plus a future 4th round pick from Chicago in 2026.
Wasn't it Kyle Williams the 3rd rounder??

The interesting thing is polk was the best WR all training camp, and looked the part. ( we'll see on chism)

He was a victim of mayo and Brissett... last season. Vrabel's going to give polk all the opportunities to make the roster.

Mapu is a nice chess piece to have, I really like Boutte and KB, it's unlikely they both make the 53 though. Probably one or the other.

Trade value is a tricky thing. Sure, Judon was a great player, trade should be easy right?

He was 32 years old, returning from a torn bicep and needed a new contract. Not so different from a 31 year old Stephon Gilmore returning from a torn quad and needing a new contract.

Trade value isn’t based on player alone, age, health, contract status…. all this factors in.

One of the best trade value moves this organization has gotten for a productive player was the 3rd rounder we got for judon. Carolina absolutely hosed us for gilly. I think the 3rd rounder was Kyle Williams?? This year's draft .

Randy Moss for a 4th from the Raiders wasn’t too shabby either. He was considered old and washed up… turns out his team just sucked.

I want to keep Mapu I would keep Mapu over Hawkins, and I think we are only taking 5 WRs on the 53 so I’d go 4 tight ends because Bell is a bit of a tweener at both.

Plus I think he gives you more flexibility than HollinsX

I trade Bourne and keep the younger cheaper Boutte.
I don’t think Bolden nor Dial are guaranteed a roster spot on the 53.

Dugger could also be trade bait but my guess is they hold on to him.

Go 5 WRS

If we call Bell a FB then 3 TE’s and a FB sounds reasonable. That’s generally what they carried under McDaniels his two prior stints with the team. Plus Bell played a lot of special teams last season.

There are many long-log shots on this roster protections.

The most unlikely seem to be Bryant, Conley, and T Robinson
over Lowe, L Robinson and Schweitzer.
