Polk & Baker revival.

I’m willing to give Baker more rope than Polk. Dude that was picked higher has higher expectations to meet, and is underperforming by more.
I disagree with this approach.

I AGREE that looking back Polk was a poorer choice when picked than Baker was when he was picked.

To me, this simply doesn't matter for 2025 and 2026. This approach is a sunk-cost fallacy.

These players are being evaluated on what they can bring to the team in 2025 and 2026. POLK may have an advantage because many, many analysts think that he has more skills (including those who work for the patriots).

I think Vrabel is making the roster decisions, and where any of the 24’ picks were drafted won’t influence his decisions at all. He has to fill a number of receiver and special teams roles from that unit, and the guys who can best fit those roles will get the jobs. I think it’s a different situation with the 25’ picks and UDFA’s, as they won’t expect all of them to be ready from day 1, and will keep those they believe they can develop into contributors with some time.

Really sad - but both of these guys are going to be selling insurance this fall.
Now, I do think Polk could potentially make a team if he gets some mental training.
He did okay early last year just based off instinct & mediocre talent.
I just don't know if he can overcome the momentum of guys ahead of him.
Baker is a loon - he's toast.

Unless he’s a WR1, lots of them are loons.

Vrabel may see something in him, he’s been giving him notable attention.

I wish posters on here weren’t so fast to write everyone off. Now we even have folks ready to dump Diggs. Let’s at least wait to see how they do when camp opens.

The Tape don't lie. Not Vrabel guys. Can't get open in man coverage from what I have seen...Cut em early, move on. Bring back the dink and Dunk offense Please Josh. It will work again!

so, you have seen Polk play in the NFL with a good game plan, good coaching and a good OL.

I have ZERO issues with not being able to get open behind last year's OL, coaching and game planning.

If Polk #Stonehands gets cut, IDGAS when he was drafted.
Who cares, mistakes are made all the time

Ja'Lynn Polk, a wide receiver for the New England Patriots, has struggled with drops this season, particularly in his rookie year. His drop percentage is 16.7%, which is the seventh-worst among receivers who have seen at least 20 targets. This has led to him having a low PFF grade (48.4) and being ranked last in yards after the catch per reception (0.2). Would Brady stand for this? Oline and new coach won't fix this receiver...

I have seen high school quarterbacks play better than Newton did for the Patriots.
He did pretty well with a completely cooked shoulder, to be honest. Before he got the coof, Joshy was doing an incredible job with him.

He had twelve. 12. catches last year.
12.
In 15 games played.
12 catches.
That's 12 more than you. And you weren't a 2nd round pick.

You can't blame 12 catches on 33 targets on gameplanning and offensive line, that's ridiculous. He played major college football in a power conference. A 35% catch rate and less than 1 catch a game...that's a bigger issue than gameplanning and offensive line, sorry.

When he was drafted I was hoping he might be like Randall Cobb. Instead, he appears to be more like corn on the cob. If he makes the team, I’m hoping he has a a more productive season. But from what I saw, I’m pretty skeptical.

The problem for both Polk and Baker is that this year they added 3 WR’s to the competition. They were safe as rookies last season because of their pick status, this year they are competing for the last WR roster spots, and neither play on special teams. And when I watched the footage of Chism I saw Julian Edelman, the finished version of Edelman, not the rookie changing positions. Phil Perry’s podcast had Chism’s coach on, and they showed a ton of Chism’s plays at Eastern Washington.

Here is the most surprising thing I came away with from watching Chism play, he’s a much better athlete than Polk, Baker, and Boutte. They can run fractions of a second faster than him in a straight line, but Chism’s athletic ability is superior to all 3 of them. He has quicker feet, can change direction on a dime, is far more explosive in and out of breaks, and he’s able to use those traits to get open instantly, and leverage defensive backs and linebackers so they end up going one way while he goes the other. In short he’s a better athlete, and a better football player than they are, and he contributes in the passing game, run game, and special teams. Anyone interested in seeing him play should check out Perry podcast with his coach, it’s eye opening.

I trust your memory on this, I’m probably so biased against Newton because of his atrocious play that I’m dismissing anything else.

We will see how it plays out over the summer. Should be entertaining at least. Players always get hurt and that will be the x factor.
