Didn’t realize we played the Bucs this year in Trampa. Any of you all going to the game? Thinking about making the drive from Borelando. Maybe hit up the nightlife after if there’s any and in the condition to. Anyone have any suggestions other than stay out of bad neighborhoods, which Tampa has plenty of…

Been a while since I went to a game there. But when I did, I was always able to find cheap (and sometimes even free, if you arrived early enough) parking beyond Hillsborough Community College off W Tampa Blvd, which was across from the stadium (to the west). Plenty of lots on the other side east of the stadium too (on Himes, which runs parallel to Dale Mabry).

Assuming you are staying overnight, consider coming in from north of the stadium (depends of course where you are staying). That would avoid the major traffic flow between the stadium from Dale Mabry to I-275. In other words, go along W Hillsborough, then south on Dale Mabry or N Himes.

Living in Fla, I don't have to tell you about sunscreen and hydrating.

I will be headed back to my old stomping grounds to see that one. Glad it is in November so it will only be hot instead of disgustingly hot.

Might be headed there for the Eagles game with my wife and her crew this year....
Can't be that hot

Literally LOL'd at Borelando. Have to be there for a convention in August, cringing at the thought. Commercial Laundry Equipment, old guys, stifling heat and humidity... I can't wait. Not.

lol it’s the perfect name for the place. It use to be better, then I got older. I live 6 minutes away from my new job in a data center and I’m not sweating when I leave my apartment but I sure as hell am when I arrive at work. If this was a regular job in some office, it would be so much worse because I can at least go out on the data center floor and cool off since the place is constantly 60 something degrees with a heavy breeze in certain places lol. I’d say “have fun” but…yeaaaahhh lol

Anybody that books a convention in central or south Florida in August deserves to be at minimum demoted, if not fired.

One suggestion... don't travel on or about 11/19.

Instead, head down there on or about 11/9... that's when the game is.

And I might see you there... could come down from Jax with some friends.

Anyone been to Safety Harbour? Thinking about staying there.

If the Bucs are going to induct Brady into their ring of honor that game would be a great time to do it.

My wife is from Orlando, and I can't think of many cities that are more boring and soulless than that place. The entire thing is so bland and generic. Endless strip malls with chain restaurants and some amusement parks. Orlando became a city because Walt Disney wanted somewhere cheap he could build Disneyworld and bought a bunch of swampland. It's a 60-year-old city built for commercial purposes, and it certainly feels that way if you ever have the misfortune of getting stuck there.

When I moved down from MA I realized there are only 2 seasons…hot and hotter…

Wouldn't be caught dead in that armpit of a state

Don’t blame u but I can think of and have lived in a few worse places.

Honestly I don’t consider this place a city. A large town sure. Driving through it’s “downtown”, where you’d expect a lot but there isn’t. Kissimmee has way more but that’s more of everything…cars, people, things to do, traffic, etc. You’re spot on about it being bland and generic. Only thing central Fl is known for is tourism. Bringing people in from other ****ty parts of the country to see how ****ty it is here. . I jest even though when I went on a vacation here as a kid I loved it, then went home to MA and ended up moving and ended up hating it as an adult hahhhh. C’est la vie!!

Agreed but they've also done it in August in New Orleans and Vegas. Cheap bastards.

Went to a radio convention years ago in Nawlins in August. What a sweat bomb. The beignets and coffee were good, though.

I lived in Florida for close to a decade, and the summers seemed to get hotter and hotter, and the "winter" seemed to go from 6 weeks to a few days sprinkled in between the heat. We always knew we weren't going to settle down there, but my wife had a hard time when we started to talk timelines for leaving. Hurricane Irma in 2017 was really the final straw. We had a destination wedding planned where we were leaving less than a week after the storm was supposed to hit St. Pete and had to evacuate to Byron, Georgia, with some clothes, her wedding dress, and our dog and hope our house didn't get destroyed. Luckily, it all worked out, but seeing how ill-prepared the state was for that storm and just how stupid so many people were being when a Category 5 hurricane was bearing down on them, that was finally it for her. About 6 months after we got married, we headed back to New England, and she has really ended up liking it here.

Really glad to hear it worked out for you. People aren’t just stupid during natural disasters here, oh no. We have full 24/7 365 idiocy. I’d like to eventually get out of here and do NH for a bit. It would be total opposites of everything I would hope.

Thank you sir for that correction!

Yea but at least there’s **** to do in those places before, during, and after said convention. You can network at after hours venues in NOLA and Vegas….not Borelando. Ever since they made places/bars/clubs shut down by 2am, it’s gone to ****.
