In the McDaniel's offenses here, the recieving back has been an essential component. The offenses have struggled without Faulk/Woodhead/Vareen/White. These types of players are not a dime a dozen. There are few who stand out.
This is a serious case of your brush strokes being way too broad and you ignoring reality.
2005- The offense struggled because they had Faulk go down and then Dillon go down and had no reasonable back-up behind them.
2015 - The offense struggled because they first lost Dion Lewis early and then lost Blount 3/4 way through the season. They attempted to bring in Steven Jackson. That doesn't include the injuries to the O-line that ALSO plagued the Pats going into the play-offs.
2020 - They lost Damien Harris, Rex Burkhead, and Sony Michel all by week 11.
2021 - They lost White, but still had Harris, Stevenson and Bolden who easily picked up the slack.
2022 - The issues with the offense weren't because they didn't have James White (ret) or Damien Harris (inj).
2023 & 2024 - The issues were injuries and depth on the O-line.
