O/U 7.5 sounds right. Anything from 6-9 wins would not surprise me at all. More/less in either direction and we have a real interesting conversation on our hands.

Great point with that bracketing. 5 wins would be massively disappointing and 10 would be massively surprising.

It's early but 2 of the sites have Pats at O/U 8.5 now. 1 has them at 7.5.

They have a strong training camp will we see 9.5?

But they are favored in 11 games? 2/3 of the time favorites win. So that equates to 9.24 wins (11*.66+6*.33). 10 would not be a surprise, definitely not as surprising as 5.

Josh guided a rookie noodle-armed shrieking Corker to 10 wins......

Jumping from consecutive 4 win seasons to 10-7 in Vrabel's first year would be massive. The hype in NE and around the league would be crazy, like the Commanders of last year.

That site may have stayed at 7.5 but the $ changed for the worse substantially, as of yesterday it was at (yikes) -145

Depends on how bettors react to that 'strong training camp.' From the moment the initial number is set the handle is the only thing that moves it. When adjusting an O/U Vegas isn't 'predicting' any outcome, they're trying to drive action. It's all about the vig, where they make their money

Historically, first year coach coming off bad season etc. is not good but Texans and Commanders have done it recently and it mainly came down to coaching and QB play. Add in a solid Free Agent class, a division with only 1 other good team and it all lines up with the Pats scenario.

Mayo to Vrabel is worth at least 17 wins improvement in a season so 21 wins is in the cards. HA

I haven't looked forward to a season as much as this one in a few years, very interesting to see how it plays out but great to have some hope.

Anything less than 10 would be a huge disappointment.

It all comes down to the offensive line. There are lots of good pass rushers on even the weakest teams. If the offensive line comes together, the Patriots can be very good against this bottom feeding schedule. If the line doesn't give Maye time and the RBs some daylight, I have these guys going 6-11 - better than last year - but still in need of another year of upgrades.
No point in comparing to last years record. It’s a very weak schedule, and the team is 80% new personnel, a QB on the rise, and experienced coaches.

the 0.5 win is how they make their $$

I dunno man…they won 8 games in two years and the roster was the worst in the NFL. Incredibly difficult to fix that in one offseason.

Lot’s of encouraging progress, but still plenty of average to below average players starting.

8 wins is my own arbitrary personal waterloo at which point I’d be pleased with the progress. More than 10 would blow me away with excitement.

Less than 8 would be a “meh…ok cool”.

Less than 6 would be “oh ohhh…something isn’t right” which to me would most likely be a result of key injuries.

Mayo’s brother is still the S&C guy so it’s a sneaky concern.

I’m not comparing to last year I am comparing to the roster they have the schedule they face and what they should be expected to do.

We play 8 games against teams who won 5 or less
Jets
Jets
Panthers
Saints
Browns
Giants
Raiders
Titans

We should not lose to any of those teams.
8 wins means we didn’t beat anyone else.

I keep seeing 11 with 3-6 against teams that don’t stink. (Or 4-5 but we had an upset along the way)

If we couldn’t win a couple of
Fins
Fins
Falcons
Bucs
Steelers
Bills
Bills
Ravens
Bengals

Then our 8 wins team would be a 6 win team, obscured by an easy schedule. I would not find that acceptable.

Would love to agree, but we’ll lose 1 or 2 of those 8, so getting to 10 will require winning 3 or 4 vs the better opponents. Which I think we can do.

Losing 2 of those 8 would be horrific. I could understand 1 upset but those are 8 very bad football teams. As i said if we can’t win at least 7 of those we are basically a 6 win team pretending because if a weak schedule.
I don’t think that’s what we have.

I HATE to say this, but I think the Jets will be better than folks think. I could see Miami being last in the division.

The jets may be worse than they were last year
