The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

Your sources? LOL. STOP.

Absurd take. They are fully committed to him and it would be a disaster for them to pull the plug on him at this point. They are surely paying more his football related activities rather than being obsessed with private relationship. He is doing much better than his predecessor in terms of the transfer portal and high school recruiting. At least one source ranked their combined transfer portal classes as ninth best in the country.

I'm sure sources from the Hudson/Belichick camp are promoting the fact that UNC is THRILLED with all of this attention their co-coaches are creating in their personal and professional lives as it truly embodies the last 40 years of UNC history.

Don't get me wrong - BB is clear whipped by a hot post-teen... good for him! I don't fault him one bit.

You may be right - if BB were still coaching the Patriots and all of these pre-season distractions were happening hiere, the Krafts and most Patsfans might be just as thrilled with all the media attention just as you think UNC is.

But the BB of old would probably fire the BB of today for becoming such a distraction from his "football first" mindset that has been the key to his success.

I saw CNN do a report on BB today. With guest Dante Stallwort as the ex-Patriots player offering expert commentary and insight based on his knowledge from the experience of working closely with BB. lol.

I'll defend him.

Bill's suffering from a form of senility and is not responsible for these actions.
When guys as tightly wrapped as Bill come undone, they come all the way undone, and fast. I had an uncle like that. All his life he was an angry hardo, then he just sort of fell apart. Imagine the toll Bill's level of furious obsession over so many years takes. Imagine harboring - hoarding - all that rageful determination and focus day after day, season after season.

I think we saw early signs with all his oddball decision-making in his last couple of years, his transition from making decisions empirically as to "what is best for the team" to making decisions on the basis of personal whimsy and animus. I didn't think it would get this weird, but you could definitely see it coming.

95 pages! Now we're cooking.
There shouldn't see too much news for a while as it quiets down.

The way I see it, not until BB is neck deep focused on football, is when to expect the next shoe to drop.

And how do we know that this isn't a form of dementia? Has anyone ever studied it?

There have been many of these type of cases. Every time the response is that the elderly person is viewed as a villain.

I'm not saying what is the case with Bill. Your explanation is plausible, but what causes this unwinding?

Bill showed symptoms before, like hiring Patricia. How could the GOAT not understand how preposterous that was?

His family should be concerned, not embarrassed. Kraft's family should be embarrassed because he's acting out the way a normal perv does. Bill isn't.

I am very familiar with dementia (Deploy the predictable joke, if you must, lol.). Generally it is short-term memory which goes first, and I have not myself seen much sign of this in Bill, though my sample is admittedly small. I guess I don't think whether there is a technical diagnosis of dementia matters much, nor do I think either of us is in a position to make such a medical diagnosis. I can tell you from experience that the road to such a diagnosis is, even for medicos, a protracted and arduous task, in many cases too protracted, no doubt. We might hope that eventually some simple, definitive test might emerge, but that is unlikely, as what we now call "dementia" covers in all likelihood a wide array of quite distinct conditions.

It suffices, I think, to note that this is a sad and ultimtely painful or tragic state into which Bill has fallen, and - for me anyway - one which we have seen before. Even my mother, who died at 102, sharp as tack and quite capable to the end, would say when people would tell her how great it was that she had lived so long,"Getting old is hard."

Mortality, and the decline which precedes our demise, are a *****, and in the end the technicalities of diagnosis don't really matter much.

More TV exposure means more advertising. Winning or a circus. Money still flows.
DraftKings has the over/under for the Tar Heels this season as 6.5 wins. I believe that's about right, but it might be inflated by the Belichick thing. We have no quarterback unless the transfer from the University of South Alabama or one of the freshmen is good.

The Heels went 6-6 last season, 3-5 in the ACC. They lost to Connecticut in one of the Both-Teams-Suck Bowls.

From here and elsewhere in the Carolina diaspora, the Belichick Heels look like the Rex Ryan Jets. We're already sick and tired of the Bill and Yoko show. After Carolina gets beat by Duke in Durham on September 28, no one will care.

You're on to something here.

Yoko was very much involved with John Lennons music after he left the Beatles. She was periodically in his new band and in a sense acted as Lennons front person. You know, ask Lennon a question and she answers it. She controlled Lennon.

Wealthy, high status men’s formula for acquiring younger girlfriends or wives:

1/2(your age) + 7= youngest acceptable age.

Don’t want to get bored out there.

When it comes to romance, Bill has never exactly been an angel. Going all the way back to his time with the Giants when he was named as the "other man" in a divorce case of a woman living somewhat beyond her means - and the money could only have come from one place. Belichick was also married at the time, but I digress. (NOTE: The divorce suit took place while he was in New England but he met the woman when he was with the Giants)

So now he is making a fool of himself by being ****y whipped by a 20 something. Whatever. It is clear the past 2 weeks they have actively tried to distance her from the University. He has put himself in a position where the critics will be merciless if he fails - and anything less than 10 wins is a failure.

Florio calling Bill a liar. Or is it disingenuous?

Never realized how similar @XLIX and Florio are.

What is hilarious is how much the Belichick-krishnas are not mad at their guy for completely humiliating himself on the national stage, but rather getting mad at those of us in here - and nationally - who are pointing it out.

Seriously, people. It isn't my fault Belichick has been, shall we say, less-than-honorable his entire life where relationships are concerned and it isn't my fault he is being ****y whipped in front of the nation by a 20-something.

I'm a little confused as to why being compared to Mike Florio is a bad thing. Florio was a high-end labor lawyer for over 15 years doing complex litigation before forming Pro Football Talk. I don't agree with everything he says or writes, but generally he has a well-reasoned opinion. His most recent analysis of the North Carolina situation is straightforward and reads like something a lawyer would write

Tough to watch Bill cratering his legacy like he is. This circus show is entirely self inflicted.
It really is sad to watch. So what happens is the people who worship him have to find an alternative to lash out at with their anger.

That comparison didn't bother me one bit. I don't agree with everything Florio says but he is an extremely intelligent guy (and was spot on during the deflategate reporting 10 years ago).

I haven't been following his Belichick reporting very closely but it doesn't surprise me to hear that his opinions on the matter are similar to my own.
