He's basically the modern day Cowher. Has had some decent to good teams, but never good enough. Then you have Tomlin who won 1 Super Bowl with Ben, but he is considered a great HC.

He chose to leave. He found a new job and the saints received comp. That’s not being shipped out. And if it was, his “expiration date” is 16 years, longer than 95% of coaches last.He was traded becuase he wanted a new coaching opportunity and the Saints wanted to go in a different direction as well. He initially stepped down citing family and health reasons. So in theory he was traded.. what does that mean... or shipped out can't be said for coaches? Doc rivers was shipped out too... from the C's..
Tomlin depending on how you look at it, either benefits or is handicapped by Steelers management which has an approach that keeps you from sucking but also reduces your chance of being an elite team. Then you have Tomlin who won 1 Super Bowl with Ben, but he is considered a great HC.
I...don't care what his intention was.Hot take here maybe but I see that quote being Mayo incapable of separating himself as a player from himself as a coach. I think his intent there was humility and speaking from a players' perspective of owning up to things even if they're not your fault and instead he shifted the blame to the players. Just speaks to his complete inexperience not just in Xs and Os but in public speaking too
It was just one of the many reasons why he was fired so quickly. I'm sure fans of other team laugh at how bad Mayo was just like we'd laugh at other teams bad coaches during the golden years. Mayo and Jim Tomsula are the worst HC's in the last 20 years.Hot take here maybe but I see that quote being Mayo incapable of separating himself as a player from himself as a coach. He came off sounding like a buffoon, like he did so many other times in his short tenure.
Yeah it's just an observation of one of many reasons he just wasn't ready to be a head coach. Not really excusing it or anythingIt was just one of the many reasons why he was fired so quickly. short answer, no. Long answer, no, not yet. we still have a ways to goWith a far better roster, coaching and overall direction of the team. It feels like we can challenge Buffalo for the division.
Yes of course the roster will work itself out by camp battles. Think back to the last few seasons of how close be played Buffalo with inferior talent. We should be optimistic as fans that we can challenge them in the division. Vrabel has built the defense to compete and frustrate offenses like the dolphins.. Justin fields scares no one and don't laugh me off the forum... but if seems like our WR room may be better than the Bills.
like to get posters thoughts on where have a chance to finish in the division?
What would prevent us from challenging Buffalo?short answer, no. Long answer, no, not yet. we still have a ways to go
What else do they need? This roster is the best in the division.short answer, no. Long answer, no, not yet. we still have a ways to go
Nathaniel Hackett says hello. It was just one of the many reasons why he was fired so quickly. I'm sure fans of other team laugh at how bad Mayo was just like we'd laugh at other teams bad coaches during the golden years. Mayo and Jim Tomsula are the worst HC's in the last 20 years.
Too many uncertainties. We improved the WR room, but is it enough? The OLine is better on paper, but is it good enough? What would prevent us from challenging Buffalo?
Uncertainties don’t prevent you from challenging they just give you doubt at this point whether they can.Too many uncertainties. We improved the WR room, but is it enough? The OLine is better on paper, but is it good enough?
Tomsula was a great DL coach. It was just one of the many reasons why he was fired so quickly. I'm sure fans of other team laugh at how bad Mayo was just like we'd laugh at other teams bad coaches during the golden years. Mayo and Jim Tomsula are the worst HC's in the last 20 years.
We are back to back a 4 win team. We used to laugh at teams like the JETE who would win the off-season and proclaim how great they were gonna be. We seemed to have a good draft and FA period, but the reality is while the draft picks look good on paper, we don’t know yet how they’ll play. What else do they need? This roster is the best in the division.
Remember last winter when people were saying we can’t fire Mayo after one year because we would look like the jets? Was that you?We are back to back a 4 win team. Let’s win some games before acting like JETE fans and proclaiming we have the best roster in the division.
I was all for firing Mayo. In terms of saying we have the best roster in the division…well, why stop there Andy. Back to back 4 win seasons be damned, we got the best roster in the league! And not just the best roster in the league, the best Patriots roster ever!!Remember last winter when people were saying we can’t fire Mayo after one year because we would look like the jets? Was that you?
Why would a fan who is optimistic and thinks we built the best roster in the division not say so? There isn’t valor in being meek.
That's fine to see how they play, but I've already seen how their acquisitions have played with their former teams (not including rookies) to feel comfortable enough to think they will contend for at least a playoff spot which isn't much to ask for. In fact, the 2021 team was way worse, but got 10 wins and the 7th spot.We are back to back a 4 win team. I agree they aren’t a 4 win team this year, and if things fall right maybe we can push for a playoff spot, but as of right now we have too many question marks and a lack of depth to say we have the best roster in the division, especially since the Bills have been toying with us for the last 5 years. Let’s earn it first. That's fine to see how they play, but I've already seen how their acquisitions have played with their former teams (not including rookies) to feel comfortable enough to think they will contend for at least a playoff spot which isn't much to ask for. The only way they are a 4 win team is if all their FA's and draft picks are busts, Barmore can't play and Maye has a bad year. Other than that, this roster should win at least 9 games this season.
