Celtics 2024-2025 Discussion

Seems like he has mono x5.

That or Covid it seems like
Yeah, they said that it wasn’t. It’s just so strange and having some clarity on it would be helpful from a fan perspective, not that that really matters for anything I suppose. It’s just if you have the flu or something you’ll be sick for a few days and you’ll be weak and you’ll get better. It’s just weird. I don’t doubt his competitiveness.

Yep. I would like to know what he has but I understand the need for privacy.

He said hes never been more sick in his life and suffers from extreme fatigue. I believe him when he says that and wants to be out there.

The freaking Chris Sale of the NBA lol..

Yeah and what happened as soon as they let Sale go? He wins the Cy Young.
I'd be very careful about letting KP go.
They don't have his replacement right now and they need to have one.

Totally different sport obviously lol.. but they are going to have to get from under the tax.. they have too.. to @RobertWeathers points paying 30 plus million for a part time player likely isn't smart business.. I believe you're going to see teams off loading contracts.. Leonard, George, Williamson to name a few. What those players have in common.. they are not reliable enough to support thier contracts.

Agree they need a replacement before they ditch him. It really sucks he can't play 60+ games. Love KP!

What we don't know is ownership's tolerance for the luxury tax, the penalties, etc. I'm assuming they want to stay away from the 2nd apron but are they OK with the 1st apron? Are they OK with paying the penalties? That'll determine how my and whom they need/want to dump.

Good questions... when does new ownership take over? 2028?? I've heard they are going to have to deal with this come this summer as they currently are over the tax threshold apron.

I kinda scratched my head a bit on why Stephen's who's an excellent GM didn't move on the Vuvajic deal.. when Chicago is looking to move him. He's younger, more durable, has great size, can defend down low, hit the 3, soft touch around the basket, excellent passer.

The NBA is messed up with this CBA. It allows teams to give MAX contracts that forces a team with 2 good players to use 70% of their salary cap for those two players. Once you're there, it's almost a guarantee that you're going to have to pay a hefty luxury tax just to put 5 players on the floor.

If you're a team like the C's, with all 5 starters making big bucks (starting next year), you're screwed by this salary cap. With Brown & Tatum making over $53 Million each, there is a little more than $80 Million before they're over the luxury tax threshold and only a little under $89 Million left until they're on the first apron, which screws them when they try to make moves to reduce their cap $$, which seems counterintuitive to me. Hey, you're over the cap, so we're going to prevent you from unloading salary to get back under it.

Getting out from under KP's $30.7 Million is not going to be anywhere near enough to lower the C's luxury tax or even enough to get them down off of the second apron, which severely restricts what they can do on the trade market. They would need to shed over $54 Million to get off the second apron.

I agree but under this luxury tax framework, the Celtics knowingly did it to themselves. They wanted to sell the team ( I think was in the works for a while) and the best way to maximize their valuation was a) win a title and b) have brand name superstars. Plus they pushed for this and knew how it would make them break-even.

Yeah then gets traded to the *insert here* team and wins the MVP next year.

Towns is 3? Start a new list
What I need is more defensive stats to balance things out. That should put Towns down a few notches. But with the stats I used (FG%, 3P%, FT%, TRB, Blks, Stls, TOV and Pts) Towns was right up there.

Thats not true. All the "they played nobody" talk will be validated. He ain't Bird thats for sure. He doesn't have the FU instinct that Bird did. Brown is actually closer, but 3 points in the second half..that dog doesn't hunt either.

**** neither of them are even on Pierces' level. I have been a huge Tatum defender, but I am sorely disappointed in his performance and decision making late in games. 12 second, ball in Tatums hands, for the first time I didn't think they had a chance to win.
Brown and Tatum both think they're better than they are and they both turn the ball over too easily.

There are other players on the team that I want with the ball at crunch time.

Johhny Most would be all over "Stanislovski" Brunson.
OMG. LOL. No question.

He also would have lost his s**t during the Orlando series.

I guarantee he would have been all over Luka and LeBron.

It sounds like something I just got over. It's a flu but lasts much longer and the symptoms are severe fatigue and nausea when you move around. I went food shopping a week ago and needed help to get through it. If he has that it may linger.

That's definitely the same thing my wife and I had. In our case it lingered for a while.

I had a guy doing some work for me the last few weeks and there was one time when I had to go out and talk to him and I got more and more squeamish as I stood there listening to him. Once I lied down everything was fine.

Sounds awful.

Did a doctor tell you what it was? I’m honestly just curious. Like I said, I know he’s desperate to get out there, I really just feel bad for the guy, and the team. But mostly, of course, I feel bad for myself.
