Celtics 2024-2025 Discussion

Good win. Knicks played about as well as they can and go blown out. Thats how these games should have gone period.

NGL I did half hope Mazzulla was going to send a bench player out to clean Brunson's clock but that's not today's NBA

Holy cow... these announcers!! I mean, just... what the heck game were they watching? When they went on & on that CAT is allowed to use his body to "defend", which in this case was to chest bump the C's player off the court, but when Pritch does the exact same thing against Brunson, suddenly it's, "Look at how Brunson draws that foul". What??

And they had the nerve to say that the Knicks "aren't getting the calls"!! WTF!?! They got way more calls than Jaylen Brown. Every time Brown posted up, he was fouled & fouled. The Knicks were certainly getting those calls their way.

Sweet win. I'll be at the game on Wed.
ROAST Brunson if you can. Little flopping no talent *****.

Edit to add if you remember Jaylen losing his ring at the parade? Well when they filmed him meeting the couple that found it, Brunson was with him. Wouldn't think Jaylen would like hanging with a dude who plays like he does. 180 opposite.

The Celtics are just so clearly a better team. Each game they’ve opened 20 point leads deep into the game.

We should be looking at a sweep on Monday, not trying to even the series. Better late than never.

Knicks point totals against Cs this year (at end of regulation):

109
104
105
107
100
91
93

Average: 101.2

They average about 15 ppg under their normal output against the Celtics. Not surprising at all. Their offense is built on dribbling and playmaking (flopping) from one player, which is the Celtics biggest strength in stopping penetration and dribbling with their guard defense and switching versatility without needing to sellout in a zone concept which leaves room for open shots.

Celtics really are the better team with a huge matchup advantage. I think the magic number here is 30. They just need to make about 30% of their 3s, which isn’t great but enough to win. They shoot around 36% overall. They didn’t really need to shoot 50% like today to win, they just need to be decent. They just can’t have horrible, rock bottom shooting nights and they’ll have enough points.

The Porziņģis thing is so puzzling. If they were getting anything at all from him, this would be smooth sailing. I mean what kind of illness is it? Why is there no real information about it? Is he dying?

Yeah, it ain't "Bill Laimbeer's Combat Basketball" anymore.

I like KP I really do. Guys huge difference maker when healthy..
Unfortunately it's not often enough. I'll remain on my feeling that his contract will be moved this summer.

Yep. He helped the team win a title. Healthy and playing well this is the best team in the NBA.

Yep. I'm coming around on this and it has nothing to do with the team being down 2-1.

Since he has been a Celtic he's played in 60% of the possible regular season games, 55% of the playoff games average line of 10/5/1 and 1.2 blocks per game. That is not worth $30m or the luxury tax it influences.

Hes on the books for $30.7m next year on an expiring deal. Because he is unavailable/not 100% it really doesn't make sense to pay him that.

Not sure about Jrue or Hauser yet as they are no clear replacements. Maybe they can resign Al for a bit of a discount?

Yes. I remember hearing about a month ago from forsberg on Celtics talk.. that the teams leaving it up to all if he wants to return next season. Yeah, KP, that been the knock on him his entire career. His talents are undeniable it's always been his availability. Feeling like KP would be the only likely contract they moved.. as Hauser contract is kibbles and bits.. the thing is KP would have to be replaced somehow. I'd want Vuvajic in Chicago maybe a trade possibility? Then in the 2026 off season I could see them unloading Jrue contract.
