Pop Douglas is either going to learn how to block on the fly or from the bench. Going be interesting to see where Polk's games at in year two: he could be a decent player from the Slot.
This.
The WRs they brought in this offseason, are all sorts of different shapes, sizes, speeds and abilities.
What do they all have in common?
They all block. (Including Diggs, btw)

This is pure newness bias here. I understand Chism has to produce to make the team. But I also think he provides a short area quickness skill set we don’t have beyond Douglas.
I can see our WR’s looking like:
Outside: Diggs and Williams as roster locks
Hollins, Boutte, Bourne, Polk and Baker
battling for 2 spots
Hollins likely a big leg up on one of the spots
Slot: Douglas and Chism

Now that I'm seeing the overall pattern, Bourne has a better chance to stay on the team than I originally thought. He blocks.

5'10" 190 lb white kid from a 1-AA school that ran a 4.7, would be my guess.
So a Belichick 5th rounder?

He broke Kupps single season reception record by 3 with 120 catches. He also broke Kupps consecutive games with a catch by 1 with 53. Take it for what its worth but was also second in the nation with 1311 yards.

5'11, 201 lbs (Could he be the next Edelman?)

And Kupp was only 9/100 quicker with near identical 3-cone and shuttle times. also, bearing in mind he had 120 targets, he only had three drops and two of those came in the final game. Zero fumbles too.

If Chism flashes in camp, I kinda wonder if the Patriots might move on from Pop.

I would be shocked and appalled if the Patriots did this. Get rid of Slo-Polk first, eeesh. Last year Pop was the only guy who could get open. This year a lineup of Diggs, Douglas and Williams would be awesome.

BTW, we know that they guaranteed Larison a total of $175K and Conley $110K. [This counts all money earned from all NFL sources, including from other teams, if they end up elsewhere.]

It'll be interesting to see who else, if anyone, got significant guarantees.

How did I miss that we got Ponder?

Holy crap we hit on UDFAs too!

He was a projected 5th rounder.

Ponder is a small school EDGE that will convert to OLB? 6'2", 251 lbs is too light for EDGE in the NFL. His bull rush won't work on NFL tackles, Ponder is not big and powerful enough, but the guy is super explosive - a violent Vrabel type for sure. Probably needs a year or two to fill out and learn OLB, but his raw athleticism is impressive.

Ponder had the best vertical jump (41) and broad jump (132) in the 2025 edge class, and his 1.56 10-yard split was second to Garmon Randolph (Baylor). He was 79th percentile or better in every other drill. At 6027/251, he doesn’t have the prototypical size for a three-down edge defender, but he’s far from an outlier in the modern NFL and his length is actually decent for his position.

Here are his official Shrine Bowl measurements:

Elijah Ponder (Cal Poly, EDGE)

Height: 6023
Weight: 257
Hand: 1000
Arm: 3278
Wing: 8018

Decent wingspan and arm length despite being vertically challenged for an edge.

He weighs more than Jalon Walker, James Pierce and Donovan Ezeiruaku, three of the top edge prospects in this year’s draft. Current NFL edges who immediately come to mind in the 245-255 weight range include Chop Robinson, who started slowly but ended up being an effective edge rusher as a rookie, and Will Anderson, whose résumé speaks for itself and who weighed around 245 at the combine.

Does he have ideal size for an edge? Of course not but in 2025 he is also not an extreme outlier in term of his measurables.
