If this draft is the work of Eliot Wolf’s grading system then

Just thought I'd mention RW.. during Wolf's post draft meeting with the media he mention something of note.. he said he thanks vrabel and his staff for coming in and getting everything corrected...

Probably the most authentic statement Wolf's made since he's been here!

…..

Yes but that doesn't speak well of Wolf who as an SVP of personnel he should define, own, and lead that process.
Agreed. Wolf said himself Vrabel, cowden and stretech came and and helped him organize things when asked in his post draft conference.

Which is completely different from “ corrected everything,” which he never said.

I actually gave him credit for admitting he wasn’t organized enough for the UDFA process, I like people who can think critically, acknowledge their mistakes, and then work to fix them. And I think Wolf was much better off working with Vrabel, Cowden, and Streicher, than he was running the show on his own last year. If they can keep this group together for the next 2-3 years I believe they will have a championship caliber organization and team.
Spot on Huck

Yes your right I did mistake on my word choice.. organize not correct

Look, I’m not trying to be a **** here, but “ corrected everything,” and helped organize the post draft UDFA process are two very different things. I actually agree that they contributed much more than that, but never said anything about “ correcting everything.

Your not being a **** at all huck.. I mentioned I misplaced my word use.. organized is what he said.. that was my bad..

I agree, and I think he did own it by saying he hadn’t done a good job of it in 24’, and that having Cowden and Streicher greatly improved it.
No one did a good job in 2024. But I did clarify My words in prior post to you.

Yep. This is why I'm cutting Wolf some slack. Between a stubborn BB who lost his fastball and a n00b, directionless Mayo I don't think Wolf stood a chance to contribute effectively.
Agreed. Glaser also was part of this "collaborative project " as well. It was just doomed from the start. Wolf seems like he can do his job more effectively with competent people who know what they are doing.. BBs system and staff was archaic by NFL standards. He kept hiring retreads and yes men.

I think the contributions of Cowden, Streicher, and Vrabel were critical but I think that what they really brought was clarity about the kind of team they wanted to build, and the specific types of players they wanted to target to build that team. I think Wolf’s strength is in evaluating and grading, as well as an overall sense of how the draft will unfold, but I think he will advise the head coach but defer to them on player selection, and he as said as much in saying that he “ isn’t going to force a player on them.” So I don’t think that they would have had anywhere near as successful an offseason had it been Mayo still in as head coach, and Wolf running personnel as what they have had with this regime.

And that's a good way of doing things. Like Vrabel said himself he doesn't get involved in contract talks he leaves that to wolf and his team.. I'll also say Highsmith also is very influential guy in the organization. Seems as if he and Vrabel have forged a pretty good relationship. It just feels like a far better organizational structure thus giving us the fans reasons to be optimistic. The roster is far more talented now than it was in week 18.

I honestly have no idea what Highsmith brings to the table. I’m sure it’s substantial, I just don’t know what his input is.

Senior personnel advisor. He works closely with Wolf, Vrabel and Cowden.. has something to do with contracts as well.. basically another respected mind in the organization.

I hate it when we are doomed.

I am really looking forward to this next season. We could be in the cusp of something special.

I agree. The spirit and energy of the coaches and players you see can see and sense a big difference... we will be in ever single game this season. No one is blowing us out.

But I liked Polk the player - separation was a concern, but he had a reputation for being a "dog" at UWash, and I thought he would do well in the right role. I was shocked how much he fell apart and how his confidence was shattered.

You had concerns about SEPARATION for a wide receiver.... and you thought that wouldn't be a problem in the NFL where the windows are even smaller? Maybe rethink what you value in a WR The ways a guy gets open in college are the most vital clues to their NFL success.

Vrabel staying out of contracts is a good idea. Belichick routinely created conflicts with players by running them down in contract talks. It’s better if the head coach stays out of it. I think they should be part of the front office discussions, but stay out of it with agents and players.

Big time! As great as BB was in his prime.. we also lost out on at least 2 more SBs due to contracts... branch is on the top of my head... I bell Vrabel is part of the recruitment process and the lure and selling point... as you said staying out if it with agents is the best practices.

Correlation is not necessarily causation.

Wolf is a punk.
