Regime cleaning ?

I believe he's the last one with a ring.

End of an era.

We are on to Maye Vrabel Era.

Maybrel??

Appreciate his efforts and accomplishments here. Good luck to him and his family.

Probably Vrabel going through the books and saying”we’re paying what for a long snapper!!??
Cardona's salary was $1.255M and then $25K workout bonus and up to $68K in per game roster bonuses. The vet min for a player with his experience is $1.21M. So in total he made about $500K more than the minimum. I doubt it was about cost. I think they just found someone younger in the draft that they think can fill the role for a long time and out of respect they don't want to force him to come to camp.

If someone snatched up the longsnapper they took in the draft I bet they'd have just run it back with Cardona.

Peppers is the lone captain left from last season's team.

Need roster space. Only room for one LS.

Wonder if he will retire? Would not surprise me.
I would expect another team to have interest.

Also, tariffs or no, if you bought Ashby stock you made a lot of money today.

Were his snaps bad last year? I don’t recall. I just figured they’d keep him on just for competition, as we actually know this guy can do it. I remember when Jake Ingram got the yips in 2010, 2011? And then the Brian Kinchen experience in 2003. I’d figure they’d want to be 100% solid before cutting a veteran who’s done it.

On that note, yet another captain from last year is off the team.

Of the originals. They added Henry and Dugger later after Bentley and Andrews went down early.

I expect he could find another team if he wants to keep playing. But he’s had ten years in the league, and as an Annapolis grad with Super Bowl rings from the NFL I’m sure he can write his own ticket anywhere outside football he chooses to go. So the question is whether he has the desire to keep playing or if he decides this is a good time to hang up the cleats.

Whatever he chooses, best wishes to him.

Agreed about Ashby. One of very few players on the roster not worried about job competition.

There's probably also a respect thing. He's put in a fair amount of time here. You're going to bring him to camp to "compete" with a rookie that you know going in you want to give the job over him to the point you know you're going to cut Cardona unless the rookie pisses down his leg in camp? Realistically they weren't going to give him a chance to "win" that competition, so I think it's just a sign of respect to not force him to essentially waste his time. Now he can go latch on somewhere else if he wants to play or he can spend time doing other things rather than being brought to camp here under a fraudulent "position battle".
