interesting that Joe was not announced with the other 6.

anyone know, does he now have to serve in the Navy?

There's probably also a respect thing. He's put in a fair amount of time here. You're going to bring him to camp to "compete" with a rookie that you know going in you want to give the job over him to the point you know you're going to cut Cardona unless the rookie pisses down his leg in camp? Realistically they weren't going to give him a chance to "win" that competition, so I think it's just a sign of respect to not force him to essentially waste his time. Now he can go latch on somewhere else if he wants to play or he can spend time doing other things rather than being brought to camp here under a fraudulent "position battle".
The same situation with David Andrews. Even if Andrews was cooked, releasing him as early as they did gave him a better chance of catching on with another team.

Talk about your fixer uppers…

As much as we seem to like the changes Vrabel is making, me included, it IS going to take time for the team to gel.

Playoffs is a pipe dream, but so was winning the 2001 SB.

At the very least I expect us to be the team no one wants to play in the 2nd half of next season.

A good long snapper goes unnoticed, other than when he makes a tackle. Joe was consistent. I didn't really notice a dropoff, but father time is undefeated and I'm sure the Patriots have advanced metrics like snap velocity and average number of inches off target, for example. I'm guessing there was some reason other than salary.

Were his snaps bad last year? I don’t recall.
I thought he had his worst year, I noticed a few snaps were not his usual quality, stood out to me because he’s always been so good and crisp.
I’m sure overall he was fine enough but getting up there in age and they obviously scouted Ashby and know he can do it. I think it’s a position that translates to the pros easily so not much question on Ashby ability to do it.

Already have 1 pick make the roster, great draft!

Joe is in the Navy Reserves, I’m guessing he will continue to be until he serves long enough to receive a pension which is either 20 or 22 years, he will be eligible for his pension when he’s 62, if he serves the full 20 on active duty he receives the pension as soon as they retire.

By the looks of these moves, no way bourne makes the team...

Dugger, onwenu , rham will need to light it up or will most likely get traded or cut next year .

As much as I love what they’re doing overall, it makes me a bit nervous how blatantly Vrabel is discarding “BB guys” for no reason other than they were part of that era. Does he think Joe Cardona is going to somehow undermine his message and program here? Seems extremely far fetched.

Or maybe he really liked the guy he drafted and wants some young guys on the team.
