Mayoclinic Thoughts

A few additional thoughts:

1. What a fun draft. Easily the most satisfying since 2010 - and that one had the usual WTF moment with Jermaine Cunningham over Carlos Dunlap in the 2nd round. So many solid picks, many of them at tremendous value. The kind of draft that has the potential to build a solid foundation for 5-10 years.

2. I think the Pats may have targeted Zah Frazier, they traded back from 171 to 182 right after the Bears took Frazier at 169. He would have been a great pick.

3. Best value picks to me were Jared Wilson (95), Joshua Farmer (137) and Bradyn Swinson (146). Would have gladly taken any of them at 77. Like getting 4 3rd round picks.

4. Craig Woodson seems like a slight reach at 106, but he certainly fills a need, and we don't know how highly they graded him. I had hoped for Andrew Mukuba at 106, but he went 40+ picks earlier. If we had taken Farmer 106, Swinson 137 and Woodson 146 the result would have been the same, and no one would have questioned the pick.

5. Why Logan Brown slipped is a mystery. I had a high 4th round grade on him, but he went undrafted. As for Marcus Bryant, I'm guessing something about him caught the scouting dept's eye when they undoubtedly scouted Armand Membou. Bryant was evidently successful enough that Missouri never tried Membou at LT. He is strong and powerful - his Trench Explosion Factor is about 3.07 (same as for Logan Brown), which is quite good. His short shuttle time of 5.03 seconds is a huge red flag, but it is only one data point.

6. I'm meh on the 7th round picks overall. Would have taken Zy Alexander or Cobee Bryant at CB with Frazier gone. But hard to gripe over late 7th round picks.

7. Would have loved the chance to squeeze in Jeffrey Bassa, but didn't know how to do it.

Overall an amazing draft, though how Will Campbell works out at LT will be the determining factor. Great kid, fingers crossed. If he works out, then an A/A+ draft.

Brown has type 1 diabetes, I really hope his medical reports didn't give cause for alarm.

That is obviously a possibility. Also some incident at Wisconsin.

Thanks for coming in hot late. I hope you stick around. I plan too this time.

Thank you, though not deserved. others did the heavy lifting in this draft. But your kind words much appreciated.

It will be interesting to see how this group works out in 2-3 years. It would be almost unprecedented to have the top 7 picks all work out and be significant starters or contributors, plus 2 ST starters. Usually 3 solid contributors is a good draft.

Piecing together Reddit and Wisconsin forum threads, allegedly some combination of ripping off a teammate’s helmet, head butting him (with a helmet on) and knocking him out, sending him to the ER via ambulance.

The 2023 class was pretty good (2 years ago). Gonzo, White, Mapu, J Andrews (maybe), Sow (maybe), Boutte, Douglas, and three ST players, Ryland (who never should have been released), Bolden, and Baringer.

2023 was indeed a solid draft, though rounds 4/5 have been a disappointment. Andrews released today. I agree Ryland was released way too soon, especially given how highly he was taken.

The way you become a contender fast is by stringing multiple good drafts. The contrary is also true: the Pats became very thin on talent through multiple bad drafts.

Rob Staton at Seahawksdraftblog has a good eye and a fresh view. He is willing to go off the beaten path. Full disclosure: He's another Brit!

Here is his final 2025 horizontal board:

FWIW, he had:

4. Will Campbell: 1st/2nd round (he only had 8 pure 1st round grades).

38. TreVeyon Henderson: 2nd round.

69. Kyle Williams: 2nd/3rd round.

95. Jared Wilson: 2nd round.

106. Craig Woodson: Day 3.

137. Joshua Farmer: 3rd round.

146. Bradyn Swinson: 1st/2nd round.

I think I was 100% right about Josh Simmons. People thought he wouldn't be ready this year, that he might never recover. Concerns all justified, he just proved to he an outlier. He will be a good one. Proved a lot of people wrong. Worth the #4 pick.
