yes i'm a diehard so i wanted hunter with the first overall (thanks mayo) then when that looked unlikely...carter then jeanty but now that this kid is a patriot and along with his attitude i'm rooting for him big time. he's a ride or die kinda kid and i love it. there's a bit of the waterboy in this kid and it's awesome. i was around for the hannah pick as well and loved that one. i think i'll watch him play with nfl coaching before making any assessments.

After the run on linemen last night, I'm glad we took campbell. At least he's. Major upgrade this season for LT until he is moved to guard after his rookie year.

Good to know, will take it under advisement.
Stand by what I said, it is not a sexy pick, but a necessary pick. All the brouhaha about short arms are a consideration, but playing great in a tough conference may be a greater indicator.

I think you had to try. Getting a decent o-line in front of Drake is at least as important as getting him "weapons," though that necessity will hopefully be high on the agenda for the rest of the draft.

Three things have made this draft difficult: First, Mayo's inability to figure out how to lose a damned game, fer crissakes (Robert gets an assist for being such a besotted wuss about compelling him to do just that.) Second, the very mediocre quality of this draft, particularly at LT. Third, we are still suffering the legacy of Bill's negligence in maintaining even a decent roster, particularly on offense. So a combination of misfortune and past incompetence has put us in a situation which will take at least one more year to remedy. I'm guessing it will take at least two. Hopefully we can hit on a healthy number of this year's picks going forward. If they draft any more defensive prospects this year, there had better be a damned good reason for doing so.

We have to call it a success, given all this, if Campbell is a "solid" player, even if eventually at guard. If you are looking for excitement in this year's draft you are fated to be disappointed. It is (snort) what it is.

Meanwhile, Campbell seems like a man of outstanding character. I think that does matter. So there's that.

I think these are good points.

I think Dante Scar had a lot of input on this pick: I'll trust his opinion on Will Campbell playing LT.
He did an on the record interview saying they shouldn’t take him. Doubt he has too much input. You’re just saying that to hype yourself up on him by making up that a super credible OL savant orchestrated it.

You have to put a good team around Maye. OL is a part of that, just one part. If they think Campbell is a guard like you keep bracing yourself for, then using the #4 pick on him was a stupid use of an asset.

If they think he’s a franchise LT, this is an obviously good pick. If they think he’s an ok/decent/solid LT, then there’s some debate if the positional value and team need would still make it the right pick even if someone else on the board is better.

two years ago, you wouldn't even think about arm length... i blame analytics... instead of watching tape, we all look at the draft sites who plot everything on neat looking graphs and charts and say see? i think if i hear Relative Athletic Score one more time i am going to scream...

Oh, and he's not moving to guard. You just drafted a ten year LT to protect your QB... ride or die.

I agree the pick is a flop if he does not prove at least a "solid" LT, but that he could likely be a better-than-solid OG is a nice consolation prize or insurance policy. It is hard to know whether to be disappointed in the making the pick or in the iffy array of options in the this draft for a team which has desperately needed a reliable LT for far too long.

Try eating pineapple. I hear it

Disagree on Strange. He consistently makes mental errors vs stunts and is often physically over powered.

You can blame coaching for Robinson. I’m not saying give up on him. He deserves another shot. But he sucked last year. That’s what his track record is right now, and there really weren’t many good things he put on tape.

JAndrews started two regular season games and did look good, but most were surprised by that because he sucked in the preseason. He was seen as a reach at the time anyway. Again, not saying give up on him, but hard to have any faith in him now or project him to be good IMO. I hope he surprised me.
Strange struggled with power (bull rushes) so center might be better for him. Overall Strange is OK. Andrews is encouraging and I look forward to watching him if healthy. Robinson is very strong but looked too stiff to me to be a NFL starter.

I am not giving up on developing Wallace to be a functional RT yet.
This is an excellent point. Wallace has the chance to develop now after a rough rookie season due to the injury and the poor staff in place... if it all shakes out, we have book end tackles for the next decade.

Campbell didn't do the bench or agility drills. Campbell is an upgrade to Lowe but those two RAS pictures are not equivalent as Campbell skipped a bunch of test metrics.
At LSU's 2025 Pro Day, he bench pressed 225 pounds for 35 repetitions

At the combine Luke Kandra of Cincinnati led the bench press event with 33 reps of 225 pounds.

His RAS may actually be higher than listed. I can't imagine a guy with such great athleticism would bomb the shuttle and 3 cone. He's a great athlete for a tackle.
