It's easy, and only takes a few moments. The people you're calling morons "who have never seen him play" have analyzed the film extensively. Guys like BGC, Bakes, Patfanken, and KCSVEN to name a few. And they don't just say "arm length" over and over, they give you detailed breakdowns. I think they're intelligent dudes with great analysis.SBB, my problem is this: Dante Scarnechia says it doesn’t matter, Joe Thomas says it doesn’t matter, Mike Vrabel says they have scouted him and he’s a left tackle. Yet despite this, and having exceptional size, athleticism, production, and leadership skills there are people here who throw all of that out and just keep repeating “ arm length” over and over and over and over and over………..It’s literally the only thing they can come up with. Then some of these morons have the audacity to call him “ mediocre,” when they have never even seen him play, and have demonstrated in the past that they are completely ignorant when it comes to the draft. In short, it gets really old.
Fair enough. I do not believe Vrabel would pass on ACWhy not Vrabel? He would be making the decision?
This is where I'm at. Vrabel's very last first round selection was Peter Skoronski. There are serious parallels here. "If he doesn't work out at LT you have an all pro guard," but Skoronski did not make it as a LT and hasn't exactly shined at G.If you have zero concern over his arm length then you should probably just consider him to be as good if not a better prospect than Hunter or Carter? Maybe not Hunter but certainly Carter who isn't perfect physically either.
I like opinions from Scar, Thomas, Vrabel, and others more than just stating "he played in the SEC and it wasn't a problem there" and certainly more than make believe numbers.
And I've stated that if Vrabel puts his money where his mouth is then I'll trust his beliefs that he doesn't think arm length will prevent him from playing LT. Until Vrabel or another team does that Arm length will still be discussed every time he is.
It wasn't a made up number. I looked at the teams he played, starting with his freshman year, and looked at the NFL talent he played against and made an educated guess of 75%. Turns out it was 72.6% or something. Yeah I made that **** up.I'm not denying that Campbell playing in the SEC saw a good amount of NFL caliber talent and that hopefully gives Vrabel and Wolf enough to scout how well he will do when he faces that level of talent every snap in the pros.
I'm ready to accept those short arms and expect him to overcome them. So I'm nitpicking but I guess I just took issue with %75 it just seemed so wildly high to me I had to debate it (turns out it was a made up number).
Good take here, bud. This is where I'm at. Vrabel's very last first round selection was Peter Skoronski. There are serious parallels here. "If he doesn't work out at LT you have an all pro guard," but Skoronski did not make it as a LT and hasn't exactly shined at G.
That is a deeply personal prior experience.
Will he gamble that it'll be different with Campbell? I have no clue. I do know that if he does pick Campbell it's because he believes with every fiber of his being that he's not making the same mistake again. If Vrabel, Marrone, Cowden, Stretch, and the rest have that much confidence, I'm happy with the pick.
I don't really know what you were talking about. You claimed %75 of his Playtime was against NFL players then when I called you out you said that's not what you claimed.I swear you have ADHD because I wasn't talking about ALL ncaa football players. I was talking about players Campbell played against. Enough of this.
Keep in mind this started by me asking @Huckleberry1 a question that you responded to by stating the above quote.I wouldn't say it's a "tiny" percentage based on it takes time for most pass rushers to develop into starters.
I looked it up and his first two years Campbell faced some elite pass rushers, many picks that went in the top 3 rounds. I would say he faced serious competition 75% of the time.
Then you should go back to the first post where I listed the current and future NFL players he played against. I never said he took snaps against them every down, I don't have that info, but I'm sure he took plenty of snaps against those players. Therefore the 72..6% of teams he played against his freshman season had/have real NFL talent/players that are or will get drafted this week.I don't really know what you were talking about. You claimed %75 of his Playtime was against NFL players then when I called you out you said that's not what you claimed.
Maybe start by clarifying what you mean when you say Campbell played against NFL talent %75 of the time?
I wasn't talking about all either I used the percentage of all just to make a point that the math doesn't work.

Also Scharnechia did not say it doesn't matter. He said it can be overcome if it doesn't show up on tape. He says if it does show up on tape, it's a problem. The people who have watched a lot of tape and shared their insights with us agree that reach is a weakness.
That's the frustrating thing to me. Guys have no idea if he can play LT in the NFL or not, and they've 100% made up their mind they will hate the pick and therefore the player as well. They are more married to the position of being right than they are rooting for the team to succeed.Actually those are all people I have given credit to for their draft analysis, , the guys I call “ morons” are guys like Sam Bam, who know nothing about the draft but act like they are experts on it. And the morons are the ones calling Campbell mediocre, when he’s far from it. And the fact of the matter is that arm length is the only knock people have come up with for Campbell.
And you deleted the rest of my post. Nice job, MSM/60 Minutes producer guy.Keep in mind this started by me asking @Huckleberry1 a question that you responded to by stating the above quote.
So maybe you'd like to explain how you reached that number?
Balanced post after the completely unhinged post by @Huckleberry1 . Thanks for adding balanced, rational thought to the forum. The people you're calling morons "who have never seen him play" have analyzed the film extensively. You keep saying that's not what you said and then go on to repeat %75 so I'm not making anything up or twisting your words. Listing the good players he played against doesn't make it %75 no matter how many times you list them out.And you deleted the rest of my post. Nice job, MSM/60 Minutes producer guy.
Here's what I said without actually doing calculator math, which turned out be "tiny" percentage points off.
I wouldn't say it's a "tiny" percentage based on it takes time for most pass rushers to develop into starters.
I looked it up and his first two years Campbell faced some elite pass rushers, many picks that went in the top 3 rounds. I would say he faced serious competition 75% of the time. This past season wasn't exactly a gauntlet but it was still solid with several top 3 round talent. Some pass rushers take a bit of time to develop so you can't yet gauge how good those players are in the NFL even though they were highly drafted. But he faced MANY NFL pass rushers. A lot of players below are from his freshman season but he did hold up even at a very young age. Yes he got smoked as someone mentioned but he faced off (not on every down obviously) against the likes of Jared Verse; Nic Scourton; Some Georgia kids in '22; Derrick Hall; Byron Young; P. Umenmielen; Darius Robinson; Will Anderson; Dallas Turner; Chris Braswell; Landon Jackson; Drew Sanders; Shemar Steward; Oladejo; Jared Ivey; Kyle Kennard. So even though some are IDL, they do sometimes jump outside on passing plays.
Just saying he more than held his own, especially the last two years, against a talented group of edge defenders.
Would cost at least 38I want to trade up to 2 and grab Hunter.
