Yeah but, he didn't want to come back because Bill insulted him with his offer.
According to Rapapport they offered the same money. TB guaranteed two years. NEP only one.

Yeah. People liked to chalk it up to the GM'ing, but the team was sloppy the last several years and were making dumb undisciplined positions and constantly getting back breaking penalties. Part of that is on the talent needing a crutch, but Belichick has to own part of the mess he put on the field.

Winning cures everything and creates culture. Once the winning stopped, the culture was dying via death by a thousand cuts.
Yeah the coaching was not good the last 3 seasons and Bill is included in that group. The Mayo era error obviously goes without saying.

TB12 wanted the Brees contact the nerve of him with his GOAT and future HOF ass to ask for such a thing.

The Patriots were deep in cap debt, they had to take a full season to rebuild and Tom was 43. They also couldn’t offer weapons that led the entire NFL in passing two years prior to Tom’s arrival or the bonus of not having to pay state income tax.

This conversation is dumb, we need to let it die. But the fanboys will talk about this for the next century…

Was TB12 worth the Drew Brees contract??

This is a silly conversation. He was never sticking around at age 43 to rebuild when he could join a superteam in Tampa. His wife was hassling him to move them to Florida or retire. Just stop…

I repeat was he worth the contract simply yes, or no? Did he deserve the Drew Brees contract? Or will you continue to make excuses.

The best team in the NFL without a QB.

When I want the teenage girl fanclub opinion I’ll come to you.
I didn't realize superteams were below .500 and allowing almost 30 points a game...

The GOAT joined a lousy team not a superteam. And made them great. So did the guys he brought along like Gronk and AB. Without Bill's "system", which ended up with a .426 record post Brady. Cope.

Was Drew Brees worth the Drew Brees contract? With hindsight one was and one wasn't. Tough to predict 43 year olds.

We all know it was wrong now. But we had Brady under control through age 42 at that point one year deals were logical but Brady had the mythical 45 dead set. Obviously we should have let him have it but it is what it is now.

Remember when Bill turned a lousy 6th round pick into the G.O.A.T. that was awesome.

Oh agree. Just a Lil friendly back and forth with wozzy.. it's all revisionist history at this point. Just was making the point that there Just isn't the total package of a superstar like TB12 anymore in football at the QB position. Guys are mercenaries for money these days. Goat continued to less for the greater good of the team.. even violation to his Own CBA for Don yee to get a deal done with pioli once.. that's how dam good player he was.. goes far beyond the 50 yard line.

I believe management grew accustomed to Brady taking less.

My point was the idea that the GOAT joined a superteam and was along for the ride to a championship is nonsense. No he joined a lousy team and turned them into champs. Some people have trouble accepting that for some weird reason.
