2025 Draft Rumours (ie The Pinch Of Salt Thread)

Jalen Milroe has been invited to the draft. I'm all in favour of QBs being drafted early and allowing LTs or WRs dropping.

Interested to see if he comes available and where he’ll go. Doubt Raiders pass on Jeanty unless the Jets jump the Raiders with us or Jville.

Possibly a trade deadline mercenary but you never know? Either way, the seed has been planted and makes a trade back with those two teams a little more likely than last week.

Two weeks ago he was confident the Browns were taking Shedeur and a week ago it was Abdul Carter. Part of me hopes the Browns are putting these rumours out there in the hope they'll encourage someone to trade up for either player. Or they could just be fickle.
Owner might have found a couple of other homeless draft experts on his way to work.

IF Sanders is there somebody will come calling: I'm in the Trade Down camp. Don't sleep on some Team liking Mason Graham either: I think number 4 will be for sale if Hunter and Carter are gone. P.s. I think the Giants are blowing smoke when it comes on to Sanders: acting like they're not interested knowing he's their man.

Could this be the trade up partner for us? Mason Graham is heavily linked to the Jags at 5 and the Bears have two second rounders.

"hybrid of AJ Green and Mike Evans." (I suspect over-hype)

I am all for taking him at 4 if Hunter is gone. We need a WR of the future and Tet is a prospect who appears to have a very high floor. The only question mark on him is his speed, but i think it's good enough, and he brings enough unique traits to have his own kind of niche. Some TEs play more like WRs. I think Tet is a WR who plays more like a TE. Not so much in over powering guys, but just with his body use and catch radius. Though he seems stronger than his weight would suggest.

Who is NFL Rookie Watch?

I like McMillan a lot. I'm not going to cry if he goes 4th because I think he's in that group that has questions and could go in any order.

But, he's not in the Nabers or Harrison Jr class. Thats going too far. I dont think hes a top 5 pick in a "normal" year.

But i do think Campbell is definitely a better prospect. And a much bigger need.

I don't think he's a Nabers or Harrison Jr. Either. I think both that guys have a chance to be top 10 WRs YOY, Particularly Nabers. I don't think Tet is at that level. But i think he has a very good chance to be a decent #1.

I would say i see him having a good chance to end up about as good as Metcalf, but with a different skill set. Still a legit #1... but not a game breaker. As for Campbell. I just don't think he's worth the pick at #4. I have serious concerns about his ability to be a tackle at this level. And if we end up spending our #4 overall pick on a guard, that would be such a waste. With Campbell that is a real possibility.

With McMillian at least you 100% know you are drafting for a high impact position. Campbell may hit or miss 2, but even if he hits you risk it not being high impact. That is something i hate. Guards are among the least impactful of all positions in the NFL. They just are. I don't want to use our 4th overall pick on one.

If that's true, could definitely make sense. The board doesn't seem great for us at #4 unless we LOVE Campbell or Tet at LT/WR, both of whom have lots of detractors. Moving back to #10 and getting an extra 2nd might make sense.

I mean just do the process of elimination:

1) QB Cam Ward
2) EDGE Abdul Carter
3) WR/CB Travis Hunter
4) DL Mason Graham
5) OT Will Campbell
6) TE Tyler Warren
7) EDGE Jalon Walker
8) LB Jihad Campbell
9) OT Armand Membou
10) WR Tetairoa McMillan
11) RB Ashton Jeanty

No order, that's just 11 players. By pure math you can get one of them at #10. I've seen various posters here argue for or at least be receptive to the idea of every one of those guys at #4 (besides Ward obviously). Some differing opinions of course, but overall those guys all seem very highly ranked on most boards. Move back to #10 and you're literally guaranteed to get one of them.

Now, the team has done actual scouting work on all of those guys so they might (and probably do) have a clear order of preference and tiers within that group. So maybe moving down from 4 to 10 is bigger for them than it is us as fans. But on the surface, seems like an idea worth exploring.

The talk now is that #1 will be Ward, #2 will be Hunter. That leaves the Giants at #3 with Carter as the consensus BPA but they have two EDGEs already. You can always play 3 EDGEs because of the way snaps rotate there and how teams stack the defensive front with rushers whenever they can, but they could possibly be looking to move back as well. If CHI has Graham above Carter they could offer the Giants that same offer to get up to #3 for Graham which would leave Carter for us at #4.

Campbell is going to be the pick and I’ve come to terms with it. He’s the best lineman in the draft, has A* character and fills an absolutely massive need. It then leaves us free to attack day two and find a WR and pass rusher.

At the end of the day, we need to come to terms with the fact that unless Hunter or Carter fall, every prospect has warts and wouldn’t be selected top 5 or even top 10 in a normal year. And because of that it’s unlikely we’ll find a trade partner. Regardless, we need to hit on the player we do take. If Campbell can be Matt Light for us over the next 10 years, I’ll take it. So here’s hoping they get their evaluations right.

Walter Football is useful if you are looking at prospects down the road. E. G … the draft is over and you want to see what positions will be strong next year. But when they are coming down the home stretch to the draft they are way off on their mocks.

I’m betting Patriot fans will end up loving Campbell if they pick him. There will be *****ing initially, but when they are in season the upgrade will become really obvious.
