It's obviously been a few weeks, so I wanted to start a thread just to see how people like the updated forum styling. As I said, I had another one in mind that would have been significantly different, but I scrapped that for the sake of trying to eliminate any real learning curve based on some other feedback. I also know a lot of people access this place from their phones, so I also didn't really want to mess with that, either.

The change by the software that added in the ability to toggle between two styles was helpful, given that it also kept a lighter style that was comparable to the previous one. It allowed for at least offering something different while keeping things similar.

It's also certainly nice to be on the latest version, as any patches or changes on this version allow future updates to be much easier. I was probably six months behind the updates due to the custom changes I had in place, which weren't compatible with this new version. Fortunately, we're now past that. Still have some work to do, but most of the hard stuff is at least done.

One other note that I wanted to mention as well is the fact that Direct Messages are searchable with this latest update. That was a big frustration of mine, and I was glad to see the people at Xenforo finally addressed that after feedback from others in their forum.

The contests will be getting some attention this offseason, with the Sportsbook getting an upgrade I mentioned at the end of the year, with people being able to select/create your own parlays, along with the predictions contest being redone. I didn't really run that last year, so we'll have that to go along with the others.

For now, I think I hit on everything from the previous thread forum-wise (which is now in the Help Forum). It took a bit due to my crazy work schedule to get done, but I feel like we're at least in a relatively good place. But I'd love to hear if anyone has run into anything or if there are any issues anyone is dealing with.

Hated it for like 5 minutes. Now I can't imagine going back.

Overall looks great. My only complaint is that with how I size my Safari window on my Macbook, it ends up having the right edge of the posts end halfway through the scoreboard in the background, so I only get to see a bunch of JETE players all day

But that’s a “me” problem. The redesign is great!

LOL, interesting. I will say Apple products apparently aren't a fan of how CSS covers background images, which I've been looking into. I looked at it on the old version and didn't realize it didn't re-size that one properly, either. It just wasn't as noticeable on my phone as this one seems to be.

One other question: How about the "Users" & "Ignore" buttons, have they been useful? We had the ability before where you clicked on the numbers to see the posters in the thread, but no one ever used it, and I don't think people knew it existed. There was also no way previously to ignore a thread without going into it, so I know that was a need. I know I do need to move those a bit on mobile, but just curious to see if having those front-and-center now has been beneficial.

Site looks fantastic! Great job Ian.
Thanks, man. I think this will be it for a while. I looked, and I think the last major update I did was back at the start of 2020, so we were due for a change, but I think we should be set for a bit.

I think it awesome... Still has that new website smell... Makes all the new threads give off the fresh scent of spring air mixed with that indefinable chemical odor that makes you want to buy a new car every three months... Think I shall call this version "website umami"...

One other question: How about the "Users" & "Ignore" buttons, have they been useful?
I never use them, never paid any attention to them, and therefore think their current positioning and size are too centralized and prominent.
Nitpicky for sure

Was thinking I may add a thing to allow to hide them. I’ll probably do that after I fix their positioning on mobile.

I haven't tried the "iOS app" just yet....

But overall, it's okay....

I’ll keep tweaking that and see if I can tone it down a little more.

This part is awesome, I can't stand useless **** that clogs up the front page, so I get rid of that **** right quick.
I also love being able to dump idiots right away.

I do have a bit of a problem seeing the >> at the bottom with the background/players on the field.

Thanks Ian

1) Ian makes change to the forum
2) Me: "d%#*!@t I hate this, I'll never get used to it"
3) After a couple weeks, I get used to it, like it, and forget there was ever any other way
4) After about 3 months, go back to step 1

I will say this, as with anything else that changes that you are use to, I was initially worried about getting use to things but all is good now. Just took come time to get used to things, mainly adjusting to the colors. Unless I have missed it, or couldn't find it due to my laziness, a page or something that has everything a member is able to do would be cool (and I am sure a bit of work for you all of course). I didn't even know anything about the Sportsbook and I can imagine many other things available that I don't know about. Outside of that, kudos!

Love it, and …

The dark mode makes this a winner for me, even though I'm having to deal with seeing Jetes to my right when using macOS.

I haven't used it much yet but I didn't realize it was a thing so yes definitely I haven't liked having to go into a thread to ignore it. I often ignore after getting sick of reading it for the 10th time (after remembering it's degenerated into Hatfield and McCoy bickering about some random irrelevant thing -- so a useful way to just Nope out of it).

One reason I haven't used it is because it appears greyed out for me so I wasn't sure if that meant it was nonfunctional or something. But it seems when I hover it on desktop it becomes non greyed out. But on mobile, hovering isn't really a thing so it's not super helpful. Greyed out usually indicates option not available, so I'm not a huge fan of that design. But I can get used to it.

Thanks for all you do to continually improve the site!
