Should Parcells have gotten in?

Parcells left nearly 30 years ago.

I wasn't happy about how he left, but surely 30 years is enough time to get over it, no?
With a 500 record?

Thunder promised Mayo more than 1 season to HC his team. That's what Mayo said to the media. Kraft hoarded cap money, let Wolf and Grow screw up the draft. Decided that Brissett would start over Maye.

After Brissett lost 4 straight and was horrible, the NE brain trust placed the rookie QB in. 33% of the 2024 season was over with 1 win to show for it. Now, Maye is in there with very little NFL experience. The offense is in shambles, but thats Mayo's fault and Maye should have won at least 6 games.

After Kraft did not advance to the NFL HOF, his minority HC was expendable. As well as Robyn Glaser.

Kraft pulled the same weasel like antics on Mayo as he orchestrated disparaging Belichick. But on a lesser scale. Hit pieces via the Boston media until Mayo and his Mrs. had their fill. Mayo threatened to blow the lid right off Kraft's lies. Enter Kraft's high power Lawyers with bags of cash and the Mayo's calmed down. The Thunder vs Mayo hit pieces stopped all together. After Orchard massage parlor, Thunder can ill afford a racially charged incident where he comes out worse for wear.

So, here we are today. Honoring a 5 time inductee and 5 time loser into the NEP HOF. Parcells finally made it after all these years.

Ill-informed made-up revisionist nonsense.

Look what he inherited.

They were 2-14 1992
They went to the Super Bowl four years later.

To say "Parcells was a .500 coach here" is suggesting he did an average job which is horse crap.

You may be right. But is this really what you'd consider a record worthy of someone in any sort of Hall of Fame?
1993 5-11 .455
1994 10- 6 .625
1995 6-10 .375
1996 11-5 .688
Total 32-32 .500

If this is a Hall of Fame coaching record, then there are a lot of coaches who aren't getting the honor they deserve.

Record no, but the again it's the body of work.

You're right. I stand corrected.

By this logic, when are they measuring Pete Carroll's jacket?

I don't get it. 500 record and quit on team before Super Bowl appearance.
True about the record, not true about quitting.

The circumstances obviously left him eternally open to attack and nonforgiveness, especially from Patriots fans. Just like with Fairbanks.

But they both inherited lousy Patriots teams which they put in championship contention in four years.

And they were really driven out by their respective owners.

There was no distraction for Bill. All those players will tell you he was fully engaged.

He felt ****ty about leaving and that's why he wasn't on the plane.

The only problem I have with this is there are several worthy players who should have been put in decades ago when they were still with us.

It obviously ain't about the overall win loss record.

He deserves the appreciation and the honor.

But Adams, Francis & Tatupu deserve it more.

Pete inherited a Super Bowl team, did his best, warned management about losing C-Mart and saw Drew decline and get hurt.

He's okay but he's no Bill Parcells.

Yep.

I've always felt Fred Marion was an underappreciated player here.

29 career INTs. 10 years here all with the NEP.

Parcells deserves more a Patriots HoF than Kraft does in the NFL

Easily

If nobody on the team was bothered by what Parcells did leading up to the Super Bowl, why was Belichick pissed off?

Another major difference with Welker... he wasn't coming off multiple Pro Bowl seasons like Martin. Welker had had one good season with the Dolphins. And he was had for a 2nd round pick and only 1.35M. Getting Welker wasn't exactly sabotaging the Dolphins in the same way. Nor was there the very 'personal' angle of his former coach being the one to sign him to the offer sheet. Parcells knew it would hurt his former team, and acknowledged that he had been perfectly fine with the Jets' running backs.

The problem is that arguably a majority of fans or even New Englanders blindly accept all the bull **** blathered about the team by local media. Which makes it easier for the rest of the nation to follow suit.

The Sullivan ownership had problems, like any ownership. Perhaps worse in some respects.

That is supposed to make all of us and all our players suck, and all those wins irrelevant...or in the case of this century, illegitimate.
That isn't why I'm against Parcells getting into the Pats HOF. He stabbed this team in the back and even he knows it was wrong.

Like I said, Tuna sleeps with the fishes.

HOF's in general are a joke and that kind of crap is why.

And that doesn't take into account want a backstabber he was to this team at a time when they should have been celebrating a SB run. F**k Tuna and the whale he rode in on.

Why would Kraft put a man in the HOF who 7 out of 10 Pats fans don't want there?

I tell you one thing, I won't boo when he's inducted (if I even stay in my seat for the ceremony - which is doubtful) but I certainly won't cheer. I'm not cheering a guy who went out of his way to screw up a Super Bowl season. After what he did to the Patriots in the end and especially with what he did in the following years with the Jets, why should I cheer him?

To me it's almost like cheering for Tomase because he wrote some good stories before he printed made-up **** about filming the Rams. He screwed up another one of our Super Bowls. Let's put him in our Hall of Fame too.

Have you guys considered, given Kraft backstabbing ways (Brady, BB, Mayo just in my life time watching this team), maybe he backstabbed Parcell in some way?

Alright, so, I PROMISE to keep a level-headed discussion, if no name calling is made here. Unless it's Kraft, but he aint in this forum, and nobody here is his ***** (right?)

It doesn't need to be just considered because its fact. Kraft took the draft away from BP that's was the beginning of the end.
