Boutte caught 43 for 589 in 15 games last year. Seems to me that’s a tad less than Bourne’s career best of 55 for 800 in 17 games. So I’m not seeing why this board is so high on Boutte and down on Bourne. Boutte is younger, this will be his third year in the league so hopefully he has some upside but we’ve also seen plenty of WRs that flashed then fizzled. Bourne has more mileage, but he’s shown himself to be an established pro which a lot of youngsters never do, and he’s a year further away from rehabbing his ACL. So until they show me something to differentiate them on the field I’m seeing the two as comparable.

So until we see results in camp to change things, or some roster change occurs, the top WRs right now are Diggs, Hollins, Bourne, Boutte, and Douglas, in that order. There’s been some discussion about how much Diggs played the slot in Houston, so he might take snaps away from Pop. Thats why I’ve got Pop listed last of those five.

Right now neither Polk nor Baker has shown enough to avoid being called a bust if they retired today. They need to come into camp this year showing that they’ve learned how to be professional NFL players. That’s something many rookies never do. So until they show some performance and consistency all they have is potential, with just as much potential to be a bust as to be a star. Potential won’t displace any of the players ahead of them on the roster. I’ll wait to see if they make the roster before I get very excited about them.

What we would like to see is the younger guys like Polk and Baker making it tough for Bourne and Hollings to make it. Who would be better for Drake Maye long term?? Younger guys on cheap contracts. K Boutte is going to be really good love his progress last year: even Amateur OC AVP thought he was better than Bourne and Boutte played like it. Again IF Polk and Baker gets it: Bourne and Hollings don't let the door hit you's where the dog shouldda bit you's.

The best thing for Drake other than diggs would be for polk and baker to work out twin... all 2 were drafted together and expected to develop together.. of polk and baker became branch and Givens then it's a hit... however I'll take baby steps from them first.

I think a WR like Diggs is going to help Boutte reach his potential. This Team needed a WR like Diggs who can beat Elite coverage. That take the focus off them so they can go up against similar of lesser talents.

I think a more significant benefit from Diggs will be the established leader example he can be.

No leader and poor coaching was a double whammy for the rookies.

I think there is a decent possibility not high but decent. But the thing is if it happens I think you'll agree with it at the end of camp so don't worry. It will be obvious to all that Baker and Polk improved or Boutte will still be here. Maybe all 3 improve and it's a tough choice but even then you'll recognize we aren't in the same place as today.

I'm not saying this will happen just that TC is the place for it.

Polk and baker are going to be kept around to develop.. if by next season they still haven't shown anything they are gone IMO.. Boutte has at least produced.. imagine if he had Drake for every game and not having Brissett early on.

K Boutte had a really good year given the circumstances with misfits at HC and OC. I just can't even imagine how he's going to look with Vrabel and McDaniels: the sky's the limit.

He had broken down cry baby Brissett.. how can throw 5 yards.. Boutte would have had close to 1000 yards if Drake started like he should have from week 1..

I don't think we carry 7 into the season like last year that was a bad decision that to me showed poorly on Mayo's and Wolfe's talent evaluations not to be able to choose their top 5. Even 6 is high, 7 was ridiculous. And they all sucked except Pop (and even he didn't have the 2nd year bump we hoped. Hopefully this year).

I hear both is working hard Polk and Baker: still I wouldn't pass on Kyle Williams or Jaylin Noel. I would love either: that said if we get T Hunter or King Tet I'm in heaven.
