It's just so interesting how essentially a 1/2 of a inch in arm length has ~ 50% of the posters in the against category.
If Carter or Hunter aren't at #4, i'm good with Campbell or Graham with that pick. Either player will be a smart pick which will contribute Day 1.
For me it’s less about arm length and more about total wingspan, width isn’t a result of arms alone, torso also plays a big part of it.
Will Campbell wingspan 77 3/8”
Armand Membou wingspan 82”
Kelvin Banks wingspan 84 3/8
I don’t see a massive difference between Campbell, Membou and Kelvin Banks. Banks didn’t bench so I question how strong he is, this matters when considering if he can step in and play as a rookie. He might need a year to get stronger, is that worth a high first round pick?
If you don’t have a conviction here and are dead set on taking a tackle… move back a little. But if you think one player is a can’t miss tackle just take him. Otherwise take another position and find a tackle at the top of the 2nd and double up by taking another raw athletic prospect later.
I don’t think Campbell with his limitations can’t do the job, but Joe Thuney could play tackle, so could Logan Mankins, so could Matt Light… then when they played the best defenses and defenders in the NFL they got exposed by speed power rushers. At guard they had no problems at all.
This is true of other positions as well, BB used Jon Jones to cover Tyreek Hill because Stephon Gilmore was too tall. The Broncos tried to cover Edelman with big tall Aqib Talib… big mistake, Edelman smoked him.
There’s a tool for every job, I don’t use my crescent wrench to hammer in a nail.
