Do you want Will Campbell at 4 assuming Hunter and Carter are off the board?

Guys do convert successfully, and even play both on demand. Membou’s only 20. I think if the Pats see more potential they’ll take him and convert him.

Some do, some don't. Thats a pretty big risk at 4, when you have a guy that's already performed at a higher level at the actual position you're looking to fill.

Also, Membou is now 21. Campbell is less than 3 months older than Membou. People keep bringing up Membou's age but ignore Campbell's. There is virtually no difference in the overall scheme of things. It's not like one is 25 and one 21.

I wasn't contrasting the ages of the two, just saying that at a young age he'll be able to transition to LT.

If the coaches feel that Membou is or will become a better tackle than Campbell, which many observers believe, then I think they'll take him and assume they can flip him. Trent Brown of all people played equally well on both sides.

Ideally we can trade back into middle of the round and select the true LT Josh Simmons. Even in that scenario though I'd still want a second LT on day 3 perhaps as insurance if Josh isn't 100% week one.

If they take Membou, I have a little more faith that Marrone can help with the transition.

But the organization last year thought they could just flip Wallace over and it was a failure. Didn't work out. It's not the easiest transition and I don't assume just anyone can do it. Especially a guy who has had trouble with speed at times on the right side. IMO Campbell is the better pick. But if the staff takes Membou I'll be on board and hope for the best.

I think you both make a good case but ultimately I think they'll pick Campbell and a part of that will be based upon character. I've not heard anything bad about Membou but there's lots of positive reviews of Campbell's character.

I also wonder if the deciding factor is how each finishes plays. I don't want to put too much emphasis on it, but I feel like Vrabel/Marrone/McDaniels will. There are no questions about Campbell finishing. I've heard multiple evaluators question Membou. Mike Tice referred to it as "grit." He questioned Membou's grit.

Well we know Vrabel will. He's talked about 'finishing plays' more than once.

I've defended Campbell in other posts. It all depends on how our coaches feel about them, they're both good and look like they can do the job sooner than later.

Mostly I'd like to see us trade back a few spots, land a 2nd or 3rd round draft choice, and also end up with either Campbell or Membou. That would make my day.

The more I hear and see of analysis, the more that I expect Campbell to be our pick at 4.

Aren't Campbell and Banks the only ones ready to start at LT on Day One?

Unless Hunter is there, I would think that Vrabel won't risk losing Campbell and will just pull the trigger. I suppose a 2nd would be enough to tempt him to move 1-4 spots.

The arms thing has been debunked a bit, he measured at 33". The main question I have about OT is whether the Pats have a higher grade on Membou, who moves amazingly well.
Membou and Simmons both move better than Campbell. I would rather have either one but Campbell has more junk yard dog in him.

That would be a good argument if there were future hall of fame players in this draft.
Clear, automatic HOF players. Mandarich had enough steroids in him for half a dozen people.

BPA is always a great argument because it is more successful long term. One player does not have to be a future hall of famer to be better long term. The objective is to have the best players. In 3 years you will not emotionally care about need anymore so you will judge the draft's success by only looking for the strongest player. The best way to try to get the strongest player is chosen by BPA.

I would draft Graham over Campbell, but trading down if possible is not a bad approach.

1. Who's BPA? A consensus board? Or the teams?

2. This is a very strong DT class. If you take Graham at 4, what do you do if Derrick Harmon falls to 38 or Tyleik Williams is the best player on your board?

3. Why Mason Graham and not Ashton Jeanty?

4. What do you do about LT if at each point you pick in the draft, a LT is not the BPA?
