No Hunter, No Carter, No Problem take Tyler Warren

Carter and Hunter look like can't miss prospects. Personally would not pass them up. I think Egbuka is gonna be a solid pro. The OL in the first round is the riskier pick for me but also understand we need help there.
Solving LT and WR2 is better than any one player.

There are 4 legit LTs

For a team that’s this limited and in need of a lot of improvement taking a TE which is maybe the most plug and play position in the NFL outside of RB is idiotic, even if you think he’s the next great NFL TE. Kyle Pitts was going to be that great and he’ll be a free agent next year and probably won’t get resigned.

Tight Ends don’t set the world on fire. Unless you think this kid (who allegedly is a minus blocker) is the next Gronk then trade back and get some draft stock as well as this guy.

But at 4? You can’t criticize this team for dumb moves ever again if you think this move makes sense

Only if we had a starting LT.

Do you really think that Drake would be happy with Lowe and a hope of what we able to get with our 2nd pick protecting him at LT?
If Maye has Diggs and Hunter? Of course. The Bengals Oline stinks and they prioritized signing the WRs because that is what Burrow wanted. We can get someone like Trapilo in R2 who is an upgrade to Lowe and target a starting LT in R1 in 2026. We will not fill every hole in 1 year. We will not have another chance at a talent like Hunter, proposing to skip picking Hunter is NUTS.

Legit but mediocre. A mediocre LT and an average WR2 versus an All Pro. Take the All Pro ten out of ten times.

Plug and play…no

So, pick Hunter and use 3 picks to move into the first and HOPE that your pick in the low twenties can start? We'd still have one third left in the top 100 picks and would likely have Lowe starting Game One.
=======
This discussion should be academic with Hunter likely going at 3. Even if the Giants don't draft Hunter, they will likely trade down and take Sanders or Dart outside of the top 5.

Huge assumptions. Overrating Hunter and underrating the other guys isn’t a fair comparison.
There are 2 all pro WRs. I don’t see Hunter as one of the 2 best WRs in the NFL.
The LTs are solid top half of round 1 prospects, not mediocre.
Egbuka is a top 20 if he was projected as an “average #2” he wouldn’t be there.

Why would Lowe start over a guy drafted in the 20s?
I would expect a 3rd round LT to beat hm out.

I like Warren; but unless you’re convinced he’s gonna be the next Gronk, Gonzalez, Gates etc.; there’s no way you take him at #4.

Even if the Pats trade down a few spots; I don’t think TE is a position of need that we need to fill in the 1st rd given all the other holes we have. TE is actually one of our strong points with Henry and Hooper. TE can be addressed in 2026 or 2027 draft.

You take an impact player over two solid/average players any day. You can still take some solid players later on in the draft if they've done their due diligence, but you're never going to get that elite athlete Hunter and Carter are.

Use all the due diligence that you wish. The odds are against finding two LT's later in the draft who will be able to contribute in Game One.

If Hunter is a generational pick such that someone will trade up with the Giants for him, then the Pats should be excited to pick him at #4 if available.

The bolded portion are your assumptions. We all have assumptions. I am happy we were able to share our assumptions.

If Hunter is there you take him. Why not? We’re in no position to pass up maybe the best player on the draft for “system guys”

If somebody wants to be stupid and give you 2-3 firsts or something sure, but he’s great

Here's the deal, unless you go BPA unless you feel

1. You have the position completely solved
2. It's a low value position (guard/rb)

The Patriots have too many holes to be reaching for need right now

Yes but one guy is a hall of famer and everyone else is mediocre is an assumption I give much credence.

All assumptions are not created equal.

Sure you do but that’s not the choice here.

Lowe has gone from a player everyone wanted to cut to us being OK if he starts, or at very worst is our backup LT? WOW!

Lowe can be a backup for 1 year. We are not going to fill all the holes in one off-season. Why does that surprise you? You thought with FA and the draft we would fix all the roster issues in 2025?

We won 4 games two years in a row. Our roster stinks and has lots of holes. Patience is needed while the team rebuilds. We will still have some holes in 2025. Hopefully by 2026 we have adequate supporting backups in most positions.

I actually agree that Lowe should be our backup LT. wejust must draft a solid starter who will be ready to start the season, or over even play behind Lowe for a couple of games.

My open question is whether we will draft another OT and a C in the first 4 rounds.
