The browns may be eyeing something like this at qb. Shefter seems pretty adamant about abdul carter going there.

Hopefully the giants signing Wilson and Winston was just insurance in case the browns deviated and took sanders. It’s still possible they want him but we’ll see
I tend to agree, I think the Browns are more likely to acquire Cousins, draft Carter and also draft another QB later. The Giants signing washed up Russ does not really move the needle a whole lot for me beyond just being insurance against the Browns taking their guy. If they get Sanders, Wilson becomes a slightly expensive backup ($10.5M guaranteed for 1 year). Winston could even just be cut if needed, I don't think he has much guaranteed money if any.

I'm curious why there hasn't been more movement on the offensive line. Maybe they feel the guys they can get in the draft are just as good, or they are higher on the guys here then we are. But for a while there have been some very affordable options out there. I kind of don't understand why the line is still the problem it is right now.

Its gonna be a long month *sigh* . But after the initial reactions to the Wilson signing which didn’t look good for us some of the more recent talk is shifting back towards Giants still being in on Shadeur. Sounds like they could really go either way

My assumption is that they've had initial talks with many players and those players want more cash than the Pats necessarily want to give at this moment. They'll wait until the draft, see what they get there, and if the need still exists then they will increase what they're willing to spend to fill the need. If those players lower their number prior to the draft as well then that may change things.

The only position that's really in tough shape is LT - otherwise the other starting spots are either "good" or "good enough". And it's not like there's any saviors at LT just waiting around anyway. So they can afford to wait a bit.

When I re-watched it, it was Beetle who said it, and Zo co-signed. He did make a face when one of those guys said what your saying on Schefter, as if to say Shefty was either wrong or full of ****. I think that we are in the silly season of draft moves now, and I really don't believe much of the reports, as everyone in the league is trying to deceive, inveigle and obfuscate.

I am not saying Schefter is right. But I would believe him over Zo or Beetle when it comes to the Giants.

IDK though, I don't know how much upside there is for the Giants to lie about their interest in Sanders. I don't think they are looking to trade down. I doubt there is anyone looking to trade up to #2 to steal Sanders from them to try to manipulate Carter or Hunter falling to them at 3. And I don't think whatever the Giants want do at 3 has any affect on who the Browns might take at 2. In another draft where there were several highly sought QBs like last year, deception could mean something. Not sure that there is any value to send out fake leaks in this draft for the Giants.

Winston is better than Wilson at this point in their careers. I don't think either was good enough to eliminate Sanders as a possibility but signing both was definitely a curious move. And scared/s me a little.

I guess I think it's lying season because it's lying season. I think the only team that might tell the truth is the Titans, and I am sure the NFL doesn't want them too, so people will watch the TV show event the draft has become with rapt anticipation.

Other than LT I think they've done a lot. Combined with getting Strange back and expecting Onwenwu to bounce back I'm not sure there's that much more to do. There are still guys on this team like Wallace who can grow into starters too.

Again other than starting LT I think a few mid round picks should round out the depth.

What we do at LT is still a mystery and unfortunately it's starting to look like a rookie or Lowe.

Could be a couple things.

Option A) They want Sanders but don't know if the Browns will take him ahead of them at #2, so they want to hedge their bets with some veteran options for now just in case.
It's this. It's why we signed Stephon Diggs, and likely another receiver will be coming in before the draft.

There is a chance that both Ward and Sanders are drafted 1-2. So they cannot put all their eggs in the Sanders basket. Again, that doesn't mean Schefter is wrong.
100 percent agree.
Due diligence, Carter is a luxury to their defense but If he turns that D to the 2024 Eagles or 2000 Ravens they could make that pick.

I think the Browns have a great coaching staff but they are cursed at QB maybe from Bernie Kosar?

I agree with Schefter

1. Ward
2. Carter
3. Sanders
4. Hunter or a trade down for a huge haul.

I think the Patriots if we select Hunter at 4, use our third round pick to move back up in the 20s to select our tackle Connerly or Simmons.

I would love to take two tackles back to back and build a wall for Maye if Hunter is not there and we can trade down with a team desperate for Sanders.

No need to reach for a WR too early.

I would have absolutely no problem with them falling OL back to back

If we can’t get the unicorn if the draft next best thing is protecting Maye, or wildcard is if Vrabel thinks Jeanty can be a top 3 back.
But I’ve always been a believer that with a good line the running back is much more effective, as opposed to a great back with a terrible line.

Steelers the price for Milton just went to a second and if we want Pickens, not sure Vrab does.

I could see Campbell at 4 and Trippolo in the Third. That would sort of be a way to try and hedge against the short arms.
