Polk & Baker revival.

I'll go easy on you as I'm still on my first cup of coffee...

The main difference this year is they'll be in a structured program, better coached, and the quality of QB is much higher.

They have a clean slate.
Good coffee I hope ?

I am just as worried about Douglas in the McDaniels offense as I am Baker, if the reported Baker playbook struggles were real

Douglas has shown little ability to learn the cerebral side of being an NFL receiver, and has relied on dynamic YAC to gain yards.......he is either going to thrive under McDaniels, who has a penchant for making slot receiver gods, or he is going to wilt and be gone in short time....right now I am confident Boutte sticks, I think Bourne will stick, especially if Douglas and the two young guys don't step up, and Hollins will be hear........nothing would surprise me out of Baker, Polk, or Douglas......and by nothing I mean a breakout season, or gone before camp is over, and anything in between

Agreed with clean slate and hopeful, but......

I think you could get better odds of winning Powerball two weeks in a row than having both these guys enjoying a break-out season. Are you sure you didn’t mean “break-down” season??!!

I think he'll be OK. My understanding is Josh is going to run a blended model which will be WC, EP, and other concepts.

He was a rookie under Bob which ran an E&P -type offense., Then last year he needed to learn WC and was productive. I think Douglas has a decent football IQ. We'll see.

I'd rather have Credence Clearwater as my WRs in 2025.

Polk, yes; Baker, no.

It’s a character question.

he ran lousy routes and didn't make the same reads as his QB both years, though.......I thought he actually regressed last year, hoping it can all be due to lack of coaching (same as polk & baker) and that it improves this year.....

WR development under the McDaniels system is a huge concern for this team right now even with Boutte and Douglas.

Polk may be able to attain some redemption. He'll need to man up under Vrabel.

Right now hard to project Baker picking up the offense quickly and thriving.

...there's some bad WR play on the rise.

I don't disagree. There were moments he looked lost. The 2023 season was a mess w/ BB/Bob/Mac/Zappe et al. We all know about last year.

As i've said pertaining to other players if he performs, he'll stay. If he doesn't, mouthes off, etc, hes gone.

well... Based on last year, they can only go up...

i hope for the best... but i think i will wait and see...

They may revive into serviceable WR3/WR4.

We're still lacking a WR you can put in the top 70 in the league. Which is absolutely insane any way you look at it. But wanting to address such a crippling deficiency gets you dismissed with a "weapons crowd" label.

Call me wrong or stupid (and I dare say some will) But I think Polk and Baker are going to have a break out season in 2025. Better coaching, top QB, growing pains over. They were not dragged in off the street to play, both were very good collage players. But for what ever reason, they both really struggled to make the transition. But now things have changed and they have a chance to really show us how good they can be.

Let the abuse begin......
Do you still put cookies out for Santa and carrots for Rudolph?

Note: McDaniels will utilize same secret sauce he used on N'Keal Harry.

Polk and Baker were both at least decent prospects. I have a tough time believing it’s a coincidence that they were both historically awful. I think the coaching last year was putrid across the board and they both suffered as a result. I’d like to see if they can be salvaged with better coaching. I’m not optimistic, but I don’t want to completely write them off just yet.

Baker has more natural talent but a ten cent head. I would still not pass on some WR Talent in this Draft hoping on the aforementioned.

Polk? Possibly. If he succeeds in the NFL, it will be because of his route running and mental adjustments. He will never be a burner, but Davante Adams is a good example. He had a slow 40 time (4.56) and was nothing stellar. His first two years in GB were not great. He didn't break 500 yards until year 3. He had drop problems. They by year 3, he doubled his production and took off.

The question will be whether Polk can be mentally tough enough to overcome his horrible first season. A few WR like Chris Carter did and never looked back. So we know its possible.

Baker? I think he is as dumb as a rock. He was physically better than many defenses he faced in college and that's why he looked good. I don't think he makes this team.

Polk clearly struggled with issues in his head that impacted his performance. I’m hoping he saw a sports psychologist after the season ended to work things out. He’ll be given the opportunity to show what he can do for the team.

And Baker? It’s like he had a mysterious red shirt year, hope to see what he brings to the table.

I want SO badly to agree, and for this to be true. I always hold out hope for our WR draftees way too long. (Jackson, Dobson, TT)
But, JMD just hasn't been an OC that develops WR's. He's been the guy in charge of the offense with the greatest of our WR busts.
I pray that things have changed, and Vrabel will push him differently than stubborn BB did, but until I see it I won't trust it can happen.

Adams is a very bad example. He was fine in his first few years with one game shredding the Pats his rookie year. He was buried on the depth chart which had two Pro Bowl/All Pro’s in Nelson and Cobb and Rodgers’ favorite in James Jones. Once Cobb and then Nelson started slowing down was when Adams took over.

Polk and Baker on the other hand, have absolutely nobody standing in their way.
